Transportation Assistant

Transportation Assistant duties include but are not limited to:

• Maintains knowledge of an extensive body of regulations, methods and practices to perform a wide variety of transportation support assignments.
• Advises on travel procedures, restrictions, and allowances, and to resolve conflicts or issues related to travel.
• Ensures compliance with procedures for obligating travel funds.
• Organize and maintain documentation records supporting beneficiary travel reimbursements and vendor payments.
• Validate, control and maintain accounting records for many travel accounts and make frequent dollar adjustments of those accounts.
• Reconciles vouchers against authorizations for accuracy prior to preparing certifications for payments.
• Prepares correspondence to veterans concerning beneficiary travel eligibility and counsels veterans who do not meet criteria for transportation reimbursement.
• Creates and mail denial letters to customer and ambulance vendor.
• Pull data and create reports showing volume and cost of patients transported by special mode and patients receiving reimbursement for travel to their appointments.
• Use reports or other data to monitor the status of transportation actions.
• Review process or special transportation for veterans requiring unusual accommodations including air ambulance when required and make determination on request for payments.
• Extract information and mileage from online map services and interpret contracts for transportation services.

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 0730-1600
