Who you are You’re an experienced, people-focused HR professional who thrives in a hands-on, fast-paced environment and enjoys supporting employees throughout the employee lifecycle. You bring 2–4 years of experience in an HR Generalist role, along with 2–4 years of recruitment and leave of absence (LOA) experience. You’re organized, detail-oriented, approachable, and comfortable balancing competing priorities while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism. You enjoy partnering with employees and managers, navigating HR processes, and finding practical solutions to everyday workplace needs. A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field is required, and SHRM certification is preferred. Experience in a nonprofit or mission-driven organization is a plus. Job Specific Essential Duties Coordinate recruitment activities, including community outreach, job postings, candidate communication, offer letters, pre-employment screening, and new-hire orientation. Support employees and managers with leave of absence (LOA) processes, documentation, and related communications. Maintain accurate and confidential employee personnel records, including scanning, filing, and electronic document management. Monitor and respond to inquiries received through the HR inbox and provide timely HR support to employees and managers. Coordinate new-hire photographs and prepare internal announcements for new hires, promotions, and other employee communications. Administer the Employee Recruitment Bonus Program, including tracking referrals, eligibility, documentation, and payments. Coordinate employee feedback initiatives, including Upward Feedback and Administrative Surveys, and track completion and results. Support organizational safety and emergency preparedness efforts, including ordering and assembling emergency backpacks. Provide administrative and documentation support for Individual Planning (IP) and Safety Committee meetings, including meeting notes and follow-up items. Assist with internal and external audits, including 401(k), Regional Center, personnel file, and other compliance-related audits. Reconcile HR department expenses and maintain accurate financial documentation. Manage HR documents and workflows through UKG Document Manager and DocuSign, ensuring documents are completed, tracked, and properly maintained. Support HR projects, process improvements, employee initiatives, and other departmental needs as assigned. Skills and abilities Analytical skills necessary to recommend policies and procedures that conform with governmental laws and regulations Thorough knowledge of employment laws, personnel policies and procedures to ensure compliance with such laws and to explain involved and complex process to employees. High degree of interpersonal skills, both verbal and written, to communicate policies and procedures and relate effectively with employees. Good analytical and efficiency skills. Ability to manage time and meet deadlines. Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment in handling confidential and sensitive information. Demonstrated ability to coordinate and manage multiple tasks and projects. Leadership skills which demonstrate the ability to accomplish personal and agency wide goals and objectives. Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply policies and objectives to all areas of the agency. Ability to communicate technical information, verbally and in writing. Ability to prepare material and provide staff training. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain a sense of urgency. Possess a detail-oriented mindset and talent for conscientious and effective administration. REQUIRED AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field or equivalent knowledge gained through combination of education and work experience. SHRM certificate preferred Experience: 2–4 years of HR experience, including 2–4 years of hands-on experience in recruitment and Leave of Absence (LOA) management. Previous non-profit experience desired. Skills: Strong computer skills including spreadsheet experience required. Prior experience with an HRIS database preferred; Excellent oral and written communication skills and superior interpersonal skills; Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgmentinhandlingconfidentialandsensitiveinformation including employee compensation, medical benefits inquires and employee payroll deductions; Ability to research and interpret state and federal payroll & benefit regulations; Ability to complete job responsibilities with a minimum of supervision and to exercise a reasonable amount of independent judgment; Ability to communicate technical information involving payroll and benefits in a clear and forthright manner, encouraging trust and confidence in the payroll and benefits systems; Ability to conduct work relationships in a professional and courteous manner; Ability to coordinate efficient performance of numerous unrelated tasks; & Demonstrated ability to manage time and meet deadlines.
