Job Title Statewide Construction Safety Coordinator Classification and Salary Senior Transportation Engineer, Caltrans – $11,437.00 – $14,315.00 per month. Location & Work Arrangement Sacramento County, Hybrid (telework and on‑site). Responsibilities Implement the statewide Construction Safety Program for highways, bridges, and other major transportation structures. Serve as the Division’s construction safety subject matter expert. Execute tasks outlined in the Division’s Business Plan. Lead the Division’s safety program and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to enhance the Department’s Construction Safety Program. Develop and review specifications, construction policy bulletins, directives, and other Department directives. Update manuals and guidance materials, and provide training. Sponsor and participate in teams that develop solutions to challenging matters. Monitor the effectiveness of the Construction Safety Program. Support district construction staff and construction safety coordinators. Lead efforts focused on improving the Department’s Construction Safety Program. Special Requirements A Professional Civil Engineering License (copy required prior to hire). Valid certificate of registration as a civil engineer issued by the California State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers. Valid driver’s license required when operating a state‑owned or leased vehicle. Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) submitted in accordance with the instructions below. Statement of Qualifications Requirements Demonstrated knowledge of construction contract administration and implementation of construction safety best practices. Demonstrated experience developing strong working relationships with stakeholders and business partners to achieve common goals. Demonstrated experience evaluating and implementing innovative strategies. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, including diplomacy, tact, and negotiation skills. Demonstrated knowledge of state and federal highway construction policies, guidelines, and standards. Eligibility Information Eligibility may be determined by your score on the Senior Transportation Engineer, Caltrans exam.
