About the Role:

We are excited to announce that we are looking for a Full Time, Medical Receptionist at Long Island Gastroenterology Specialists in Wantagh, NY.

Responsibilities:

• Greet and register patients upon arrival, verifying personal and insurance information accurately.
• Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
• Answer incoming calls promptly, addressing inquiries or directing calls to appropriate personnel.
• Maintain and update patient records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Collect co-payments and process billing information as required.
• Coordinate with clinical staff to manage patient flow and minimize wait times.
• Prepare and distribute patient forms and informational materials.
• Assist with administrative tasks such as filing, faxing, and managing correspondence.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in a receptionist or customer service role, preferably in a healthcare environment.
• Basic proficiency with computer systems and electronic health record (EHR) software.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain patient confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification as a Medical Receptionist or completion of a medical office administration program.
• Experience with specific EHR platforms such as Epic, Cerner, or Meditech.
• Familiarity with medical terminology and healthcare billing processes.
• Bilingual abilities, particularly in Spanish or other commonly spoken languages in the United States.
• Demonstrated ability to multitask and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
