Accountant Trainee

We're seeking an Accountant Trainee to join our Billing and Accounts Receivable Reconciliation Unit. This entry-level opportunity offers hands-on training and professional development while supporting the Department of Motor Vehicles' accounts receivable operations. Key Responsibilities Establish, maintain, and reconcile various accounts receivable activities for the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). Perform professional accounting work involving the establishment and maintenance of financial accounts and records under close supervision. Learn departmental accounting systems, agency operations, and central fiscal control activities. Assist with billing and accounts receivable reconciliation processes. Develop knowledge of professional accounting principles, policies, and procedures. Collaborate with program staff and control agencies while building strong interpersonal and communication skills. Desired Qualifications Candidates must meet one of the following requirements: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a specialization in accounting. (Applicants who are registered senior students may apply but must provide proof of degree completion before appointment.) Completion of a prescribed professional accounting curriculum through a recognized residence or correspondence school of accountancy, including coursework in elementary and advanced accounting, auditing, cost accounting, and business law. Completion of the equivalent of 19 semester units , including 16 semester units in professional accounting coursework (elementary and advanced accounting, auditing, and cost accounting) and 3 semester units in business law.
