Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 06:45 - 19:15 Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2+ years License: RN License required Certifications: ACLS and BLS Must-Have: - Stepdown experience - Telemetry experience Description: The patient population primarily includes cardiovascular and vascular surgery patients. This includes surgeries such as open heart surgery, thoracic lung surgery, and abdominal aortic aneurysm repair. Patients may also have overflow medical cardiology diagnoses such as heart failure, chest pain, and sepsis. The unit has 40 cardiac surgery stepdown beds with approximately 100 staff members. The typical staffing includes one charge RN, 13 RNs, and 4 Patient Care Technicians during the day shift. Patient ratios are 1:5 for RNs and 1:13 for Patient Care Technicians. The unit utilizes equipment such as Baxter IV pumps and CADD epidural pumps, and operates on an EMR system. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to manage cardiac medications and perform procedures such as chest tube management and tube feedings. Ideal candidates are team players who thrive in a fast-paced environment and exhibit flexibility. Weekend requirements include a minimum of 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling period. No on-call requirements are necessary. Candidates with experience in cardiovascular and vascular surgery populations will be prioritized.
