Design Engineer

Job Overview
Search Solution Group is seeking a Design Engineer on behalf of our client, a manufacturing company specializing in customizable electrical distribution and fueling control systems. The Design Engineer will transform customer requirements into detailed engineering designs, CAD layouts, wiring diagrams, and bills of material (BOMs) that support efficient manufacturing. The ideal candidate has a strong electrical foundation, understands the reasoning behind engineering decisions, and enjoys solving technical challenges. This role also offers the opportunity to help develop and standardize engineering processes as the company continues to expand.

Key Responsibilities

• Review customer contracts, specifications, and technical requirements to develop engineering designs.
• Create detailed electrical panel layouts, wiring diagrams, and manufacturing drawings using CAD software.
• Develop and maintain accurate Bills of Material (BOMs) for production.
• Interpret technical documents and ensure designs meet customer specifications.
• Collaborate with Sales, Engineering, and Production teams throughout the design process.
• Design products with manufacturability, efficiency, and quality in mind.
• Manage engineering revisions and maintain accurate documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
• Identify opportunities to standardize designs and improve engineering processes.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives related to design systems and documentation.
• Ensure engineering documentation is organized, accurate, and production-ready.
• Provide technical support during manufacturing as needed.
• Stay current on applicable electrical standards and industry best practices.

Requirements Include Education

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field preferred.
• Relevant technical coursework or equivalent hands-on electrical experience will also be considered.

Experience

• Experience creating electrical layouts, engineering drawings, or manufacturing documentation.
• Experience using AutoCAD or similar CAD software.
• Experience developing Bills of Material (BOMs) and engineering documentation.
• Experience interpreting technical specifications, contracts, and engineering requirements.
• Experience working in a manufacturing or production environment preferred.
• Experience with electrical control panels, electrical enclosures, or industrial equipment is a plus.

• CAD software and design best practices.
• Basic understanding of National Electrical Code (NEC) requirements preferred.
• Familiarity with UL-listed equipment, electrical enclosures, or fueling/distribution systems is a plus.
• Autodesk Inventor experience is preferred but not required.
