EHS Construction Senior Specialist PR/SV Fleet Data Centers designs, builds and operates mega-scale data center campuses. The EHS Construction Senior Specialist is the primary onsite EHS partner and oversight authority representing Fleet for the project reporting to the EHS Construction Manager. This role supervises the EHS Construction Specialists for both PR and SV. Developing partnerships with all levels of organizations verifying that EHS Management Systems are being adhered to and documented. The position will focus on ensuring that high‑risk work is planned correctly, controlled effectively, and executed safely, especially during periods of known elevated risk such as energization, commissioning, and construction to operations handover. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced EHS Construction Senior Specialist to provide daily oversight of EHS performance for the General Contractor and all subcontractors at our Fleet Data construction site. This critical role involves championing our top‑level EHS policy, fostering a strong on‑site safety culture, and ensuring implementation and verification of EHS programs, particularly High‑Risk Activities. The successful candidate will be a visible leader, dedicated to preventing incidents and driving continuous improvement in safety performance. Approximately 85% of the time will be spent in the field. Job Responsibilities EHS Oversight & Contractor Management Continuously assess with Fleet leadership the site capabilities and limitations to support peak workforce including delivering specific dashboards and metrics to ensure Fleet Construction is visible to EHS info. Assessing risk associated with Simultaneous Operations (SIMOPS) daily to ensure daily planning and work execution is mitigating risks associated with the work. Audit the Contractor’s EHS programs, orientation competency, and training matrices for high‑risk employees like crane operators and electrical work. Support and champion the top‑level EHS policy statement, promoting a strong on‑site culture where environmental, health, and safety and well‑being are paramount. Participate and track the implementation of High‑Risk Activities (HRAs) programs, including, but not limited to, working from heights, electrical safety, energy isolation, lifting operations, mobile equipment, material handling, confined spaces, ground disturbance, driving, temperature extremes, and noise. Carefully collected and assesses EHS metrics to ensure HRA standards are effective, and where not, ensure stakeholders take corrective action to mitigate any risks. Act as the liaison between the Owner, General Contractor and subcontractors in resolving conflicts that may arise because of ambiguity, misunderstanding, or differing opinion to EHS expectations. Contractor Compliance with High Risk Activities (HRAs) Participate in Safety in Design meetings as assigned. Ensure the three levels of risk assessments (program, activity, and task level) and conducted with corresponding forecasting and planning meetings are being carried out. Attend HRA forecasting and planning meetings. The contractors are incorporating HRAs into their project schedule. Ensure the proper implementation of permit procedures and safe work plans for applicable HRAs. Track that contractor communications with their workers, including sharing Lessons Learned and implementation is being done. EHS Program Assurance Ensure full compliance with all federal, state, local, and international EHS regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA, specific country regulations). Provide SME support for High‑Risk Activities such as high‑voltage energization, complex lifts, NFPA 70E, LOTO, Confined Spaces, Commissioning and turnover from GC to Owner. Monitor leading and lagging key indicators, identifying gaps in the system, processes, or procedures leading to implementation of proper action plans to drive desired results. Routinely participate in site activities and provide support where needed to support GCs on project wide EHS issues/aspects. Prepare regular reports for site leadership on EHS performance, trends, and initiatives. Pro‑actively lead, engage, and coach contractors to ensure effective EHS process compliance and continuous improvement. Ensure disciplined compliance tracking of any non‑conformities, deficiencies, safety observations made including the one generated by contractors. Support the development, implementation, and periodic drill/exercising of emergency response plans, including training. Environmental Stewardship: Ensuring implementation of environmental management best practices, including waste management, pollution prevention, and sustainable construction initiatives. EHS Program Leadership and Culture Acts as the EHS Owner in all Contractor / Owner meetings. Promoting a strong culture through felt and visible interactions with the General Contractors, subcontractors, and craft. Be a visible leader who can build trust, foster a 'non‑blame' culture, and proactively coach contractors. You will need to influence behavior and drive continuous improvement without direct authority over all on‑site personnel. Proactively promote the implementation of hazardous observations (including good catches) for contractors reporting programs, fostering a non‑blame culture. Promote a strong on‑site safety culture through felt and visible leadership, setting an example for all personnel. Create relationships of trust with the General Contractor EHS and Construction and other stakeholders. Partner closely with the EHS Construction Manager, directors, managers, engineering teams, procurement, legal, and other internal departments to integrate EHS considerations into all phases of the construction lifecycle. Utilize EHS software to oversee compliance tracking related to contractor EHS oversight functions, ensuring accountability, timely interventions, effective corrective and preventative plans, and proper risk management. Assist with contractor EHS vetting and assurance. Engaging one through face‑to‑face conversations highlighting safety work practices. You will spend time in the field remaining visible and engaged with stakeholders. Review waste management, carbon reduction plans, and environmental monitoring data to ensure alignment with corporate sustainability commitments. Emergency Preparedness and Post‑Incident Audits Support emergency preparedness by participating in emergency response drills, tabletop exercises, and post‑emergency reviews, ensuring lessons learned are embedded into site controls and procedures. Ensure scheduled post‑incident “look‑back” audits (e.g., 30–60 days after events) are conducted to verify that corrective actions remain effective and have not been bypassed by the workforce. Basic Qualifications Education: 4 Year degree, OSHA 500, OSHA 30, Professional Certification: ASP, CHST, or similar preferred. Current CPR/First Aid/AED certification. Years Experience in Construction EHS: 5-7. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in environmental health and safety or related technical field. Strong background in creating positive engagements and solution driven outcomes regardless of company, position or title. Previous experience in supporting the Program Owner. Previous OCIP experience.
