Description

Our client, a F500 leader in the IT industry is seeking to hire a Maintenance Mechanic for their Vernon Hills, IL location . This is a 2nd shift role that will work from 2:00PM - 10:30PM Monday-Friday. This role starts as a 6-month contract but offers future opportunities for contract extensions and full-time positions for top performers. This position will sit at a major Distribution Center and be responsible for common preventative maintenance and repairs on conveyor belts, motors, forklifts, AND Facility Maintenance (HVAC, common mechanical/electrical/plumbing issues that you find in a Corporate Office Building as well). The ideal candidate will have experience with facilities maintenance in both a Distribution Center and a Corporate Office environment.

Position Overview


The Maintenance Mechanic performs general maintenance on all facilities and material handling systems in the distribution center as well as the commercial facility. You will perform preventative maintenance and respond to work orders for the HVAC Systems, Building Facilities, mechanical repairs, electrical issues, plumbing, as well as conveyor systems, forklifts, and battery chargers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Performs preventative and corrective maintenance as well as mechanical troubleshooting on all material handling systems in the distribution center - conveyor systems, forklifts, and battery chargers, etc.
• Performs preventative and corrective maintenance on all general facility equipment- HVAC systems, cafeteria equipment, plumbing, etc. Participate in the preventative program and be a first responder for problems with emergency fire and sprinkler systems.
• Performs preventative and corrective maintenance in a timely manner including entering all time, parts and comments into a Maintenance Management System.
• Provides maintenance services throughout the facility as assigned.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of commercial facilities maintenance experience.
• Training/Education/Certifications in Mechanical or Electrical repairs, HVAC, or Facilities Management (preferred but not required).
• Demonstrated ability to read blueprints including one or more of the following areas: electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and/or construction drawings.
• Stand, bend, lift, walk and carry products in any combination for up to 8 hours at a time.
• Comfort working in a warehouse environment which includes changes in temperature as the weather fluctuates, noise from conveyors and forklifts.
• Ability to lift as much as 50 lbs. with or without assistance.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with all stakeholders.
• The ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
