Traveling Superintendent (Commercial Construction)

Location: California Employment Type: Full-Time About the Opportunity We are partnering with a well-established commercial general contractor that has been delivering high-quality projects across the Western United States for decades. This organization specializes in ground-up construction, remodels, tenant improvements, retail, grocery, automotive, and commercial projects, with a strong reputation for repeat business and long-term client relationships. We are seeking an experienced Traveling Superintendent to oversee commercial construction projects from start to finish while leading subcontractors, maintaining schedules, enforcing safety standards, and ensuring exceptional project execution. Responsibilities Manage day-to-day field operations for commercial construction projects. Lead and coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel. Maintain project schedules and proactively address delays or conflicts. Conduct site walks, inspections, and quality control reviews. Ensure all work is completed safely and in compliance with project specifications. Coordinate inspections, permitting activities, and project closeout. Prepare daily reports and maintain project documentation. Partner closely with Project Managers, clients, architects, and trade partners. Monitor project progress, manpower needs, and site logistics. Maintain a clean, organized, and professional jobsite environment. Qualifications 5+ years of experience as a Superintendent managing commercial construction projects. Experience with retail, grocery, tenant improvement, renovation, or ground-up commercial projects preferred. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications. Strong scheduling, coordination, and leadership skills. Experience managing multiple subcontractors and fast-track schedules. Working knowledge of OSHA safety requirements and jobsite safety practices. Proficiency with construction management software such as Procore or similar platforms is preferred. Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities. Willingness to travel extensively throughout California and the Western United States.
