Are you experienced in healthcare administration, referrals, prior authorizations, or medical office operations? We are seeking Referral Specialists to join busy physician practices in the Bradenton and Lakewood Ranch, Florida area. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with experience navigating insurance authorizations, coordinating patient care, and working in fast-paced clinical environments.

Pay & Schedule

• Pay Rate: $17/hour
• Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
• 1-Hour Lunch Break
• 40 Hours Per Week
• 8-Week Contract Assignment
• Urgent Start Date
• Candidates must be available to start within the next three weeks

• Lakewood Ranch Medical Group - Primary Care
• Cardiology Practice - Bradenton

Position Summary

The Referral Specialist serves as a key liaison between patients, providers, insurance companies, clinics, and hospitals. Responsibilities include coordinating referrals, obtaining prior authorizations, scheduling procedures, and ensuring timely patient care while maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations and privacy standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Schedule patient referrals and specialty appointments
• Obtain pre-authorizations and pre-certifications for tests and procedures
• Coordinate diagnostic testing with outside facilities
• Communicate effectively with patients, providers, clinics, hospitals, and insurance companies
• Review clinical documentation to establish medical necessity
• Monitor and track referral status through completion
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA and healthcare regulations
• Maintain accurate patient records and documentation
• Support workflow management within the practice

Qualifications

Required

• High School Diploma or GED
• 1 to 3 years of experience in a healthcare, medical office, or clinical setting
• Strong computer and data entry skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Excellent communication and customer service skills

Preferred

• Experience with insurance verification, referrals, and prior authorizations
• Knowledge of diagnosis and procedural coding
• Understanding of federal and state insurance regulations
• Familiarity with managed care and patient management processes
• Knowledge of third-party reimbursement guidelines
• Experience working within physician offices, clinics, or hospital departments
