This position oversees the end-to-end demand planning and demand-to-supply balancing process to improve forecast accuracy, capacity alignment, inventory performance, customer service, and operational decision-making. Working cross-functionally with Commercial, Program Management, Procurement, Supply Chain, and Operations, this role consolidates customer and business demand into a reliable planning outlook and translates demand signals into actionable material, inventory, and production capacity plans. The position provides leadership with visibility into constraints, risks, trade-offs, and opportunities across a complex, multi-site, high-mix manufacturing environment. Location: This position is approved for remote work only in specific states. To be considered, candidates must currently live in one of the following states: Arizona, Alabama, California, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Massachusetts, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, or Wisconsin. Essential Functions: Design, implement, and lead a formal monthly SIOP process, including demand review, supply review, reconciliation, and executive SIOP meetings across all applicable locations. Establish and maintain an integrated demand planning process that provides a consistent and reliable source of demand information across the organization. Consistent interaction with 4-5 total SIOP resources across 3 production sites – this role will require the Leader to lead a council across sites with dotted line reporting Develop rolling forecasts by incorporating customer forecasts, historical demand, market and sales inputs, program requirements, and other relevant demand signals. Partner with Commercial and Program Management teams to evaluate, reconcile, and validate customer and program-level demand assumptions. Translate approved demand plans into material, component, production, and capacity requirements in partnership with Procurement, Supply Chain, and Operations. Incorporate electronic component lead times, allocation constraints, bills of material, supplier limitations, and other supply risks into planning decisions. Develop and maintain rolling capacity plans across manufacturing locations, identifying labor, equipment, material, and production constraints. Present planning gaps, business risks, competing priorities, and recommended trade-offs to executive leadership for timely decision-making. Lead inventory planning strategies that balance customer service requirements, working capital objectives, material availability, and excess and obsolete inventory exposure. Facilitate cross-functional alignment between customer-facing teams and operational teams regarding forecast changes, production priorities, supply constraints, and recovery plans. Support new product introductions, new program launches, product transfers, and production ramp-ups through capacity planning, material readiness assessments, and risk mitigation. Establish and monitor SIOP and demand planning metrics, including forecast accuracy, forecast bias, inventory performance, capacity utilization, service levels, and plan adherence. Analyze planning performance, identify recurring gaps or root causes, and implement improvements that increase process maturity, accuracy, accountability, and scalability. Promote disciplined use of ERP and planning systems to support data integrity, planning consistency, scenario analysis, and reporting. Develop planning standards, governance, roles, and decision-making processes that strengthen organizational accountability and support business growth. SIOP and Integrated Business Planning: Demonstrates the ability to design, implement, and lead an integrated planning process that aligns customer demand, supply capabilities, inventory, capacity, and business objectives across the organization. Demand Forecasting and Analysis: Develops reliable demand forecasts by evaluating customer inputs, historical trends, program requirements, market conditions, and other demand signals. Identifies forecast variances and improves forecast accuracy and accountability. Supply and Capacity Planning: Translates demand requirements into material, labor, equipment, and production capacity plans. Identifies constraints, assesses operational trade-offs, and supports effective allocation of resources across manufacturing locations. Inventory and Working Capital Management: Balances material availability and customer service requirements with working capital objectives. Develops strategies to optimize inventory levels and reduce excess, obsolete, and slow-moving inventory exposure. Electronics Supply Chain Knowledge: Applies knowledge of electronic components, bills of material, supplier lead times, allocation constraints, component lifecycle risks, and high-mix manufacturing requirements to planning and business decisions. Business and Financial Acumen: Understands how planning decisions affect revenue, customer commitments, operating performance, margins, cash flow, inventory investment, and other financial outcomes. Incorporates business and financial considerations into recommendations. Data Analysis and Decision-Making: Collects, validates, and analyzes complex operational and financial data to identify trends, evaluate performance, determine root causes, and develop practical, evidence-based recommendations. Cross-Functional Leadership and Influence: Builds alignment and accountability across Commercial, Program Management, Procurement, Supply Chain, Finance, and Operations. Influences decisions and resolves competing priorities without relying solely on direct authority. Executive Communication: Communicates complex planning information, constraints, risks, and trade-offs clearly and concisely. Presents actionable recommendations that enable timely and informed executive decision-making. Process Development and Continuous Improvement: Designs scalable processes, governance standards, roles, metrics, and operating cadences. Evaluates process performance and implements improvements that strengthen planning accuracy, consistency, accountability, and maturity. Risk Identification and Scenario Planning: Anticipates demand, supply, capacity, inventory, and execution risks. Develops alternative scenarios, assesses operational and financial impacts, and recommends mitigation or contingency plans. ERP and Planning Systems Proficiency: Effectively uses ERP, advanced planning, reporting, and analytical tools to support forecasting, materials planning, capacity modeling, scenario analysis, data integrity, and performance reporting. Qualifications: Education: Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA), Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or a related discipline preferred. 10+ years in supply chain/operations planning, with 5+ years in a SIOP/S&OP leadership role Experience in EMS, contract manufacturing, or complex multi-customer/high-mix electronics or industrial manufacturing environments strongly preferred Deep understanding of electronic component supply chains – lead times, allocation dynamics, and BOM-driven planning Track record of building a SIOP process from a low-maturity starting point (not just running an existing one) Strong ERP/planning systems experience (e.g., Kinaxis, or similar); Excel/data fluency Analytical rigor combined with strong executive communication and cross-functional influence skills Physical Requirements: Ability to sit for extended periods while performing computer-based work. Ability to use a computer, keyboard, mouse, telephone, and other office equipment for prolonged periods. Ability to communicate effectively in person, by telephone, and through electronic communication methods. Ability to occasionally stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift office materials up to 20 pounds. Duties may involve extended periods of sitting, standing, walking, bending, computer-based work, and occasional lifting or movement of materials consistent with job responsibilities. Employees entering production or controlled areas are required to follow all environmental, safety, ESD, quality, and equipment-handling procedures, including the use of SMTC-provided ESD-safe items where applicable. The role also requires travel between company locations, customer sites, or other business-related destinations as needed, as well as the ability to maintain a safe and secure remote workspace with reliable internet access when working remotely.
