DescriptionAmerican Battery Technology Company (ABTC) provides technical development and commercialization of domestic, sustainable sourcing of critical battery materials through lithium-ion battery recycling and battery metal extraction technologies for use in batteries that power electric cars, grid storage applications, and consumer electronics and tools. Our first of kind systems produce commercial-scale battery materials that are sold into the battery manufacturing supply chain.ABTC is seeking a motivated and versatile Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist to help build and strengthen our EHS program in a fast-growing manufacturing environment. This is a unique opportunity to advance your career while playing a key role in developing EHS processes, programs, and culture from the ground up.Based at ABTC's Lithium-Ion Battery Recycling Facility in the Tahoe Reno Industrial Center (TRIC) in McCarran, Nevada, you will partner with employees and leaders across all levels of the organization to promote a safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible workplace. Using a risk-based approach, you will drive employee engagement, support continuous improvement, and help foster a culture of safety and accountability.In this role, you will develop, implement, and improve programs within ABTC's EHS Management System, with exposure to environmental permitting and compliance, regulatory inspections, industrial hygiene, ergonomics, construction safety, waste management, and safety program development. You will also support training initiatives, incident investigations, and corrective actions that reduce risk and improve operational performance.You will help ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations while supporting ABTC's commitment to operational excellence, sustainability, and employee well-being. Develop new procedures, inspections, trainings, or reports as neededActively work with site stakeholders to ensure that site and process changes result in improved controls of risks to health, safety and the environment.Perform audits and inspections, document results, and verify action and closureAnalyze event trends and use risk-assessment methods to identify continuous improvement projects that reduce injury, illness and environmental impact events.Facilitate investigations from a Learning Teams approach, ensuring worker involvement and that preventative actions address system causes and not just focused on individual behaviorsParticipate in pre-job planning and verification of controls/safeguards before new, high risk, and non-standard work beginsMonitor and administer EHS systems and tools used onsite (e.g., event reporting, action tracking, management of change, etc.)Deliver EHS Training and facilitate EHS Subcomittees with onsite teamsQualificationsBachelor’s Degree in Safety Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health or related field or equivalent experience1-2 years work experience as an environmental, health or safety professional, preferably in a manufacturing, oil & gas, construction, or similar workplace. Those with an internship with work experience as an environmental, health or safety professional, will also be considered.Experience working with cross functional teams effectively.Experience supporting EHS program development, training all levels of personnel, and influencing/managing change to reduce risk and improve outcomesExperience with hazard analysis methods, hazard communication, powered industrial vehicle safety, OSHA compliance, event/incident investigation and learnings, and corrective action managementFamiliarity with industrial hygiene, industrial ergonomics, machine safety, environmental compliance processesAbility to work effectively and efficiently under pressure while managing competing demands and deadlinesExperience implementing ISO 14001 and 45001 programsExcellent customer service skillsProficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Work, Power Point, Project, etc.)BenefitsCompetitive salary Company-sponsored health, dental, vision, and life insurance Parental LeaveCompany-sponsored Employee Assistance Program Stock options 401(K) Flexible paid time off Expected Pay Range$80k - $130k per year.Compensation for this position may vary based on a number of individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
