Academic Program Coordinator
St. Vincent's Hospital Westchester
The purpose of this position is to develop and implement a Dedicated Education Unit (DEU) model of clinical nursing education. This innovative model of collaboration between the University of Mount Saint Vincent's- Saint Joseph's School of Nursing and Saint Joseph's Medical Center is designed to enhance collaboration between nursing academia and professional practice to provide increased learning opportunities by immersing students in the nursing role.
The Academic Program Coordinator role has a dual reporting relationship to the College of Mount Saint Vincent, Saint Joseph's School of Nursing (CMSV,SJSON) and Saint Joseph's Medical Center (SJMC). The position will be a full time employee of Saint Joseph's Medical Center with consideration for non-tenured faculty rank at College of Mount Saint Vincent. The position is based at Saint Joseph's Medical Center, Yonkers, New York Campus and entitled to the non union benefit package of Saint Joseph's Medical Center.

DEU Program Development and Implementation
- Establish the structural, operational, and educational framework for the DEU in alignment with national best practices
- Manage a comprehensive implementation timeline for the DEU cohorts
- Define and operationalize roles and responsibilities for UMSV faculty, SJMC clinical preceptors, nursing leadership, and students within the DEU model
- Provide ongoing leadership, guidance, and troubleshooting throughout all phases of DEU implementation and program
- Develop and deliver training for UMSV faculty, SJMC nursing staff, clinical preceptors, and students on the philosophy, structure, and expectations of the DEU
- Create preceptor development programs that include competency expectations, evaluation processes, and continuous feedback mechanisms
- Serve as a liaison to ensure consistent communication and alignment between academic and clinical partners
- Ensure DEU clinical learning experiences reflect UMSV's curriculum and the AACN Essentials (2021) , including:

- Support UMSV faculty in aligning didactic, simulation, and clinical components to ensure cohesive competency-based progression
- Serve as the Clinical Facility Coordinator for DEU student placements at SJMC, ensuring compliance with onboarding, scheduling, and regulatory requirements
- Coordinate with SJMC nursing leadership to ensure clinical units are prepared to support DEU student learning
- Facilitate communication between preceptors, students, and UMSV Dean & faculty to support clinical performance, remediation, and evaluation
- Foster an environment of continuous learning for preceptors and students which may include development and deployment of preceptor training.
- Act as liaison between hospital staff and faculty to promote practice and learning opportunities.
- Monitor DEU program outcomes, including student performance, preceptor effectiveness, and unit-level learning climate.
- Collaborate with UMSV faculty and SJMC nursing leadership to implement evidence-based improvements in clinical teaching and practice.
- Participate in data collection, reporting, and evaluation activities that support accreditation and program review.
- Provide feedback on key attributes required for practice readiness and incorporate in clinical practicum activities.
- Participate in UMSV and SJMC committees, departmental meetings, and collaborative initiatives that support academic--practice integration
- Represent UMSV Saint Joseph's School of Nursing and SJMC in community, professional, and academic forums related to clinical education and workforce development
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from a nationally accredited institution
- Academic Nurse Educator Certification (CNE) preferred
- Demonstrated experience in nursing education, clinical instruction, or nursing leadership
- Previous experience teaching in both classroom and clinical settings required
- Unencumbered, current New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Evidence of ongoing professional development in nursing education, clinical practice, or leadership
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills, with the ability to work effectively across academic and clinical environments
