Job Title: Shipping Clerk Job Description

The Shipping Clerk prepares and packages parts for shipment, manages shipping documentation, and coordinates freight logistics. This role also supports inventory control activities and receiving operations to ensure accurate stock levels and efficient material flow throughout the facility.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and package parts for shipment according to company standards and customer requirements.

• Generate accurate bills of lading and other shipping documentation for outgoing shipments.

• Arrange freight with carriers and coordinate pickup schedules to ensure on-time deliveries.

• Perform regular cycle counts to maintain accurate inventory records.

• Kit parts from stockroom locations based on work orders or production needs.

• Process scrapped items in the system and ensure proper documentation and handling.

• Receive incoming parts and materials and verify quantities and documentation.

• Apply identification labels to received parts and ensure proper traceability.

• Stock parts and materials in appropriate locations within the stockroom or warehouse.

• Deliver materials to designated areas within the facility in a timely manner.

• Use ERP (SAP) and scanning tools to record shipping, receiving, and inventory transactions.

• Perform data entry related to shipping, receiving, and inventory control activities.

• Handle materials safely using appropriate material handling equipment and methods.

• Collaborate with team members and other departments to support smooth logistics operations.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in shipping and receiving processes, including packaging and documentation.

• Experience preparing and packaging parts for shipment.

• Ability to generate and manage bills of lading for outgoing shipments.

• Hands-on experience with inventory control activities such as cycle counting and kitting.

• Ability to process scrapped items accurately in inventory systems.

• Experience in receiving operations, including verifying and labeling incoming parts.

• Skill in applying identification labels and maintaining part traceability.

• Proficiency with ERP systems, specifically SAP, for shipping, receiving, and inventory transactions.

• Data entry skills with attention to accuracy and detail.

• Ability to use scanning tools for tracking and recording materials.

• Material handling experience in a warehouse or stockroom environment.

• Capability to work scheduled shifts, including afternoon or evening hours as required.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Familiarity with shipping and packing best practices in a manufacturing or distribution environment.

• Comfort working with technology-based tools such as scanners and ERP systems.

• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple shipments and inventory tasks.

Work Environment

This role is based in a warehouse or stockroom environment where you handle physical materials and packaged parts throughout the day. You use ERP software such as SAP, along with scanning equipment and standard material handling tools, to complete shipping, receiving, and inventory tasks. The position follows a structured shift schedule, which may include afternoon or evening hours, and involves working on your feet, moving between stockroom locations, and delivering materials across the facility. Dress is practical and appropriate for a warehouse setting, supporting both safety and comfort while performing material handling and packaging activities.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Carson, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.
