Service & Maintenance Technician

The Service & Maintenance Technician is responsible for diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing complex mechanical, electrical, and electromechanical systems in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment. This role supports uptime, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement initiatives across advanced equipment and facilities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and automated systems Troubleshoot and repair equipment failures using diagnostic tools and root-cause analysis Support installation, calibration, and commissioning of new equipment and systems Monitor system performance and recommend improvements to increase reliability and efficiency Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to resolve technical issues and implement process improvements Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements (OSHA, EPA, etc.) Support continuous improvement initiatives (SQCDP) to reduce downtime and operating costs Maintain spare parts inventory and coordinate with vendors for service and repairs Light fabrication and/or machining fixturing Keep workspace clean (shop/trash cans/fab room) Assist in supporting the UTAC culture and values (Integrity, Expertise, and Innovation) Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications Associate’s degree or technical certification in Mechanical or Electrical is preferred 4+ years of hands‑on maintenance experience in industrial, manufacturing, or high‑tech environments Knowledge of mechanical systems: couplings, alignments, vibration, pumps Knowledge of electrical systems: VFD troubleshooting, AC motors, sensors, and control systems Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals Experience with automated systems preferred Proficiency in using diagnostic tools Fluency in the English language is required Strong problem‑solving, strategic thinking and analytical skills required Able to relay technical information in a way your audience understands Consistently exhibit appropriate attendance habits, working the hours necessary to perform the job Proficient with all Microsoft Office applications and the ability to become proficient with any systems that we use (Concur, Kronos, etc.) Organize and maintain efficiency of personal work area Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills High attention to detail and safety awareness Ability to work independently and in cross‑functional teams Strong communication and documentation skills Adaptability in a fast‑paced, high‑tech environment Experience in the automotive testing and validation industry preferred Strong time management, multi‑tasking, and organization skills Able to function as part of a team, with members of varying job levels, and work cooperatively toward team goals Consistently adhere to, and support all UTAC policies, procedures, and safety regulations Self‑starter, who can multi‑task and possess strong communication skills Valid driver’s license Physical Requirements Exposure to industry accepted chemicals and noise Regularly required to stand, reach, bend and move about the facility Able to lift and/or move materials as needed in the performance of assigned dutiesRequirements include, but are not limited to stand, walk, sit, twist, bend, lift, see, speak, hear Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer May require occasional travel (locally, nationally, internationally) Benefits Medical Insurance, dental 401k Recognition awards linked to our UTAC values of Expertise, Innovation and Integrity.
