We need a full-stack engineer to help build and improve those checkout experiences, from the backend services that orchestrate payment flows to the web surfaces merchants integrate with. You will work alongside experienced engineers, write clean and efficient code across the stack, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ship features that real users and merchants depend on every day.\n\nJob Description:\n\nEssential Responsibilities: \n\n * Implements tasks within the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), receiving structure and oversight from more experienced staff\n * Follows well-established internal conventions and standard procedures\n * Understands internal standards \u0026 processes an applies them to make technical decisions\n * Collaborates with peers, manager, and project lead to gain understanding of tasks and review solutions\n * May contribute to code \u0026 design reviews\n\n\n\nMinimum Qualifications:\n\n * 1+ years relevant experience and a Bachelor\u2019s degree OR Any equivalent combination of education and experience.\n\n\n\nAdditional Responsibilities \u0026 Preferred Qualifications:\n\n## What You\u0027ll Do\n\n\u2022 Build and maintain backend services that power Pay with Venmo checkout flows, including the GraphQL orchestration layer that connects merchants, mobile clients, and payment processing.\n\n\u2022 Develop and improve web frontend checkout surfaces that merchants integrate with through PayPal Checkout and Braintree.\n\n\u2022 Write clean, well-tested code and participate in code reviews to maintain a high quality bar.\n\n\u2022 Collaborate with mobile engineers, product managers, and designers to bring new features to life.\n\n\u2022 Help debug and resolve issues across the full checkout flow, from the merchant\u0027s payment button through to settlement.\n\n\u2022 Contribute to engineering standards around testing, CI/CD, observability, and on-call practices.\n\n\u2022 Learn and grow within a team that works on payments infrastructure at scale.\n\n## What We\u0027re Looking For\n\n### Required\n\n\u2022 Proficiency in JavaScript, HTML, and CSS, with hands-on experience using at least one modern frontend framework such as React, Angular, or Vue.\n\n\u2022 Foundational understanding of backend technologies and APIs, with a desire to build skills in server-side development.\n\n\u2022 Familiarity with GraphQL or RESTful API design.\n\n\u2022 Knowledge of version control (Git) and familiarity with agile development environments.\n\n\u2022 Strong attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and a collaborative mindset.\n\n\u2022 Eagerness to learn, adapt, and grow within a fast-paced engineering organization.\n\n\u2022 Bachelor\u0027s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.\n\n### Preferred\n\n\u2022 Experience with Node.js or similar server-side JavaScript environments.\n\n\u2022 Understanding of responsive design principles and web accessibility standards.\n\n\u2022 Familiarity with cloud services, database integration, or application monitoring tools such as Datadog.\n\n\u2022 Exposure to payments, fintech, or commerce platforms.\n\n\u2022 Experience using AI tools and LLMs to accelerate software development workflows.\n\nSubsidiary:\n\nPayPal\n\nTravel Percent:\n\n0\n\n-\n\nThe base pay for this role will depend on where you work and the relevant experience and expertise you bring.
