• Position Type: Contract
• Contract Duration: 3 months (with potential for longer contracts of 1326 weeks)
• Pay Rate: $47.00$52.50 / Hour (USD)
• Shift / Schedule: Night shift 312 hours 18:4507:15; every other weekend required; call required if called off on a prescheduled shift
• Work Authorization: Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.

Job Summary

This is a Med/Surg Oncology RN travel nursing position on a unit that cares for patients receiving chemotherapy and monitors patients who have received chemotherapy. The team is seeking travelers who are either chemotherapy certified or willing to obtain certification. Certification can be obtained prior to starting the assignment or may be completed either before the start date or while on assignment. Travelers must be committed to obtaining the ONS Fundamentals of Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy Administration certification; if they plan to obtain the certification the facility will provide onsite training and may cover the cost. First-time travelers are accepted.

Key Responsibilities

• Care for and monitor patients receiving and who have received chemotherapy and biotherapy including IV PO or injection administration
• Manage a general medical-surgical patient population with diagnoses including AKI Sepsis Cancer Septic shock Pain OD Malignant Neoplasms ARF Encephalopathy FTT diabetic foot ulcers and Heparin drips
• Float to similar units and alternate care locations with inpatients holding such as inpatient holding in the ED or any alternate medical patient care location
• Be assigned and expected to work a Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team; contract staff may be required to report to work during a catastrophic event mass casualty or disaster
• Be assigned equally to home unit staff to ensure patients are covered with a registered nurse during times of increased census (typical ratios may be higher)
• Reschedule make-up shifts for any shifts called out
• Attend monthly staff meetings (attendance required)
• Consolidation to the Centralized Office mid-contract may occur and contract staff may be preassigned to units as needed

Education Requirements

• BLS required
• ONS Fundamentals of Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy Administration certification preferred travelers must be willing to obtain this certification prior to or during their assignment; the facility will provide onsite training
• Must pass EKG Testing prior to start for this specialty
• 2 years of experience required

Required Experience

• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
• Experience in an inpatient setting required
• First-time travelers accepted

Work Environment / Physical Requirements

• Patient ratio: 1:6 (ratios may be higher during times of increased census)
• Night shift: 312 hours 18:4507:15
• Every other weekend required
• Call required if called off on a prescheduled shift
• Floating required to similar units and alternate care locations with inpatients holding such as inpatient holding in the ED or any alternate medical patient care location
• Contract staff will be assigned and expected to work a Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team and may be required to report to work during a catastrophic event mass casualty or disaster
• Consolidation to the Centralized Office mid-contract may occur and contract staff may be preassigned to units as needed
• Attendance to monthly staff meetings is required
• Scrubs: Navy Blue and white
• Unit orientation: 24 hours (2 shifts)
• Flu vaccination required medical/religious exemptions only

Important Notes

• RTO after booking is not allowed and is not allowed to be worked out onsite. Any call offs or additional RTO on unit could possibly result in a contract cancellation and DNR (Do Not Rehire).
• Must pass EKG Testing prior to start for this specialty.
• Locals accepted at local rate.
