Responsibilities

Empower AI is searching for a fast, efficient and detail oriented Sr. Accounting Associate  to join our team! This is a hybrid position requiring two days a week in the Reston, Virginia office.Will prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger activity while ensuring accurate account balances and the timely completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.Support external audit activities by preparing schedules, reconciling data, and providing documentation for DCAA audits, financial statement audits, and annual Incurred Cost Submissions (ICS). Contribute to the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of accounting policies, procedures, and internal control processes. Assist with the preparation of tax-related schedules and supporting documentation to facilitate compliance with federal, state, and local tax requirements.

• Prepaid (Direct and Indirect) - Draft
• Sales and Use Taxes - Monthly Report and GL Detail
• Washington Filing - Pay Sales and Use Tax
• Sweep entry - JE
• Wells Fargo Loan Fee - VP
• Revolver Interest - VP
• Reconcile Bank Statements
• Deposit of checks
• Capital Equipment Leases - Recurring JE
• Debt Issue Cost Amortization - Recurring JE
• Fixed Assets/Depreciation Entry
• Direct Depreciation reclass
• Indirect Depreciation reclass
• Impairment Reclass
• NCRED Reserve Entry
• AR Suspense account check
• Post Invoices that are available
• Verify all customer invoices in 'Completed" status
• E-mail cash receipt reports to Sue Dobyns
• Post all cash receipts
• Unbilled reclass
• Rent Invoice Other closing tasks
• Audit data gathering

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
• 5 years of experience
• Must have public accounting experience (such as: BDO, RSM, Cohn Reznick, GT, KPMG, PWC, Deloitte, EY)
• Must have govcon experience
• Experience in Microsoft Excel

Preferred:

• CPA or CPA track
• Private Equity Experience
