Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Nurse Extern, you will play an integral role within the nursing team, gaining practical experience while exploring the full range of responsibilities associated with the Registered Nurse position. You will contribute to delivering safe and compassionate care that enhances patients’ lives while developing the skills and confidence necessary for more advanced roles as you progress through your nursing education.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Delivering essential patient care by assisting with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), monitoring vital signs, supporting mobility, and ensuring patient comfort and hygiene.
• Carrying out nursing tasks such as wound care, catheter management, specimen collection, and other fundamental procedures as you gain experience and enhance your competencies.
• Accurately documenting care and providing timely updates to the nursing team to ensure seamless and coordinated patient care.
• Assisting patients and their families in understanding care plans and offering guidance for health and recovery.
• Maintaining clean and safe patient environments by adhering to infection control protocols, managing equipment, and keeping areas organized.
• Promoting your personal growth and improving patient care by engaging in learning opportunities, sharing ideas for enhancement, and collaborating with your supervisor or preceptor to develop your career path.

Qualifications Required:

• Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of starting employment.
• Certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA) is required.
• Enrollment in an RN program, either at the Associate or Bachelor’s degree level.
