Vehicle Recovery Specialist (Collections)

Summary of Role: This role is responsible for the collection of delinquent loan accounts and related collection issues. Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities: Responsible for the collection of accounts assigned by department management, including member negative share balances, MasterCard accounts, mortgage and home equity accounts, consumer and small balance commercial loan accounts. Responsible for the accurate maintenance of records that may be used in the collection of accounts Acquire and preserve knowledge of state and federal laws as they pertain to Bankruptcy and Collection Knowledgeable with the regulations surrounding the right of offset and freezing funds with regards SSI, SSD and Pension. Retain state and federal laws with regard to repossessions Well Informed with the Fair Credit Reporting Act and the CFPB as they pertain to collections Maintain a business relationship with outside collection attorneys, repossession agents, and other collection-related vendors to ensure accurate and timely service Responsible keeping the reposession spreadsheet accurate and up to date Accountable for assigning repossession out to our vendor using the repossession software Responsible for providing accurate costs and fees associated with repossessions Send repossession inventory to be inspected and detailed and or transported Prepares Right to Redeem letters, Public Sale letters, and Deficiency balance letters Processes all sales proceeds and distributes them to the proper locations (i.e. Collection Expense GL, Repossession GL, Bankruptcy GL and member loan) Contacts creditors to obtain lien releases Applies all payments received from Lee & Mason Processes all service requests received for the department Review accounts for charge off after sale proceeds have been processed.
