LOCATION:Minnechaug Regional High School JOB TYPE:Full-Time Position SALARY:$100,000 - $107,000 (based on experience and degrees) QUALIFICATIONS: Education Level: 1. BA/BS; MA/MS 2. Valid Massachusetts license as a Supervisor/Director. 3. Preferred candidates will be certified as an Athletic Administrator through the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association. Experience: 1. Teaching 2. Head coaching experience at the high school level preferred. 3. Administrative background preferred. Other Requirements: 1. Demonstrated ability to both lead and manage. 2. Demonstrated ability to work efficiently and effectively with others in a collaborative fashion. 3. Superior communication skills. 4. Knowledge of state, conference and local laws, rules, regulations and guidelines. 5. Knowledge of current coaching theory and practice. REPORTS TO:Principal SUPERVISES:Interscholastic Athletic Programs JOB GOAL: The athletic director provides leadership to the district's athletic program, directs the athletic program for students, supervises and evaluates coaches, and serves as a resource to parents and the community. The athletic director both oversees the daily operations and provides long-term visioning to ensure student-centered, effective, and efficient practices. In addition, the athletic director implements policies and directives as assigned by the principal, the school district, the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association, and the federal government. Working collaboratively with the principal, the athletic director implements policies and directives promoting the success of all students, accountability in all practices, consistency between MRHS and HWRSD, and fiscal responsibility at the site and district levels. This is a position requiring work beyond the school day and, as necessary, on weekends, school vacations, and summers. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: 1.Organizes and administers the overall program of extracurricular athletics, both intramural and interscholastic, for the district, in concurrence with administration and school committee policy. 2. Maintains a consistent focus on increasing participation and enhancing sportsmanship. 3. Prepares and administers the athletic program budget. 4. Provide leadership in the selection, assignment, and evaluation of athletic coaches, trainer, and staff members. 5. Observes sufficiently in order to evaluate coaches and make future recommendations in terms of in- service, job expectations and assignments. 6. Serves as primary spokesperson for the district's athletic program. 7. Enforces all federal, state, and conference rules and regulations and ensures all coaches and athletes are in compliance of these policies and stays abreast of any policy changes. 8. Oversees compliance with Title IX, Chemical Health, and Hazing policies, and all other relevant laws, regulations, and policies. 9. Develops and places into operation appropriate rules and regulations governing the conduct of athletic activities for both athletes and spectators. 10. Coordinates police details (when appropriate) and administrators' schedules for proper home contest supervision. 11. Fosters good school-community relations by keeping the community aware of and responsive to the athletic program. 12. Assumes responsibility for the organization and scheduling of all interscholastic athletic events. 13. Works collaboratively with Director of Facilities to coordinate field maintenance for all host contests. Collaboratively applies for CPA grants to improve both the recreation and handicap accessibility of our athletic resources and assets. 14. Hires officials, and police details as required, and assumes general responsibility for the proper supervision of home games. 15. Arranges transportation for athletic contest participants. 16. Is knowledgeable of the physical and academic eligibility requirements to participate in each sport, and verifies each athlete's eligibility. 17. Attends all league and state meetings, as deemed appropriate by the high school principal. 18. Requisitions, in cooperation with appropriate staff members, supplies, uniforms and equipment for athletic programs. 19. Supervises the cleaning, storage, and care of all athletic equipment. 20. Supervises all ticket sales connected with the athletic program, and assumes responsibility for proper handling and accounting of monies involved. 21. Ensures that school's website is accurate and up to date with regards to athletics. 22. Coordinates the use of all district athletic facilities. 23. Arranges all details of visiting teams' needs, as appropriate. 24. Arranges the practice schedules for the coaches on the fields and in the gymnasiums. 25. Keeps records of the results of all Minnechaug athletic contests, and maintains a record file of all award winners, stating the date and type of the award, including athletic scholarships. 26. Plans and coordinates a mandatory seasonal athlete and family information evening, followed by specific sport coaches' meetings. 27. Serves as the high school administration's liaison to the Falcon Athletic Booster Club. 28. Prepares and presents a final report to the principal, superintendent, and school committee at the end of each school year. 29. Ensures compliance with all Massachusetts Department of Public Health and Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association concussion regulations by implementing and monitoring required concussion protocols, providing education to coaches, student-athletes, and families, maintaining accurate documentation, and collaborating with the school nurse, district nurse leader, athletic trainer, healthcare providers, and administrators to support the safe return to learning and return to play of student-athletes. 30. Develops, coordinates, and facilitates the MRHS Captains Leadership Council, providing leadership development opportunities that promote sportsmanship, ethical leadership, positive decision-making, and student voice across all athletic programs. 31. Leads efforts to cultivate an athletic culture grounded in diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, ensuring that all student-athletes experience a welcoming environment and that traditionally marginalized voices are represented, valued, and supported within the athletic program. 32. Collaborates with students, staff, and community partners to promote student-athlete wellness by supporting mental health awareness initiatives, including serving as the administrative liaison to the Active Minds student club and advancing programs that reduce stigma and encourage help-seeking behaviors. 33. Develops and implements initiatives that promote exemplary sportsmanship and positive fan behavior by engaging student leaders in creating and sustaining a culture of positive sideline cheering, respectful competition, and school pride consistent with the educational mission of interscholastic athletics. 34. Collaborates with school administrators, counselors, coaches, and student leaders to develop programs that foster leadership, character development, belonging, and positive school climate through athletics, recognizing the role of extracurricular activities in supporting the academic, social, and emotional growth of students. 35. Demonstrated commitment to fostering diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and student wellness through educational athletics, including experience developing student leadership and promoting positive school culture. 36. Performs all other duties as assigned by the principal.
