Job Title Medical Laboratory Technician (S) Position Details Position Number: 60012188 Grade: MH06 About the Agency The N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services supports agriculture, agribusiness, and forests; protects consumers and businesses; and conserves farmland and natural resources for the benefit of all North Carolinians. The department employs approximately 2,000 people. Responsibilities Conduct ELISA and Agar Gel‑Immunodiffusion diagnostic tests for Mycoplasma synoviae, Mycoplasma gallisepticum, and Avian Influenza. Provide test results to producers and veterinarians submitting specimens. Compile and manage scientific data from serological testing; enter data into a laboratory information system for reporting. Perform quality control/assurance monitoring of serological techniques. Maintain inventory of reagents and consumables needed for diagnostic testing. Qualifications General knowledge of laboratory procedures applicable to serology or related disciplines. Ability to use laboratory equipment. Strong communication skills for effective verbal and written reporting. Accurate observation skills and ability to produce written reports of findings. A related education and experience: Associate’s degree in medical technology from an accredited institution; or completion of a certified laboratory assistant course; or two years of medical laboratory experience with a high school diploma/GED; or an equivalent combination. Recruitment Range $39,435 - $59,154 per year.
