Payroll Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to support payroll operations on a part-time basis (30 hours per week). The ideal candidate has public sector or government payroll experience in California and is highly familiar with CalPERS, Deferred Compensation plans, and Paychex payroll processing.ResponsibilitiesProcess payroll accurately and on schedule using PaychexMaintain employee payroll records, deductions, and earningsAdminister CalPERS reporting and retirement contributionsManage Deferred Compensation deductions and reportingEnsure compliance with federal, state, and California payroll regulationsPrepare payroll reports, reconciliations, and year-end processing (W-2s)Respond to employee payroll inquiriesSupport HR and Finance with payroll-related updates and auditsQualifications3+ years payroll experience, preferably in California public sector/governmentExperience with Paychex payroll systemWorking knowledge of CalPERS and Deferred Compensation plansStrong understanding of California payroll laws and complianceHigh attention to detail and ability to meet strict deadlinesSchedulePart-time, 30 hours per week$30-$40 Hourly depending on Experience
