Key Responsibilities\n

• Conduct individual in-home treatment sessions or group therapy sessions remotely, leveraging technology to enhance client engagement and communication.

• Utilize evidence-based practices to focus on anger management, social skills development, and coping strategies to mitigate high-risk behaviors such as self-injury and violence.

• Facilitate decision-making processes for both caregivers and children when facing behavioral challenges in daily life.
\n
• Collaborate closely with the Child Family Treatment Team and other professionals to ensure a comprehensive approach to client care.
\n
• Document all necessary evaluations, treatment plans, and progress reports promptly and accurately, utilizing our electronic health records system to keep track of client progress.

• Participate in regular team meetings to contribute insights, share best practices, and enhance overall treatment effectiveness.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

This position primarily focuses on serving children and adolescents ranging from ages 3 to 20 who experience developmental and intellectual disabilities, as well as their families. Therapists will work closely with clients from diverse backgrounds, providing compassionate and culturally competent care. Bilingual therapists fluent in Spanish or Portuguese are especially encouraged to apply, reflecting our commitment to meeting the needs of our community.

Qualifications\n

• A Master’s degree in Counseling, Family Therapy, Psychology, or a related field is required.

• A valid, unrestricted LMFT license in New York State is essential.

• Completion of a comprehensive criminal background check, including fingerprinting, is mandatory prior to employment.

Preferred Experience\n

• Experience in working with children aged 3-20, particularly those with intellectual/developmental impairments.

• Prior background in implementing positive behavior support strategies and interventions.

• Flexibility to work during after-school hours (4-7 PM) and possibly weekends to accommodate client schedules.
