Job Description Job Description Excavation Foreman Job Summary We are seeking an experienced and motivated Excavation Foreman to lead field crews on residential, commercial, and civil excavation projects. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, extensive knowledge of excavation and underground utility installation, and a commitment to safety, quality, and productivity. The Excavation Foreman is responsible for coordinating daily operations, supervising crew members, operating heavy equipment as needed, and ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and according to specifications. Responsibilities - Supervise and direct excavation crews on job sites. - Coordinate daily work activities to ensure projects stay on schedule and within budget. - Read and interpret blueprints, site plans, and utility drawings. - Oversee excavation, grading, trenching, utility installation, and site preparation activities. - Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and job-site safety requirements. - Conduct daily safety meetings and job hazard assessments. - Operate and oversee the operation of heavy equipment, including excavators, loaders, dozers, and skid steers. - Monitor project progress and communicate updates to project managers and company leadership. - Coordinate with subcontractors, inspectors, utility companies, and customers as required. - Inspect equipment and ensure proper maintenance and safe operation. - Train and mentor crew members to improve performance and maintain high-quality workmanship. - Maintain accurate daily reports, time records, and production documentation. Qualifications - Minimum 5 years of excavation experience required with at least 2 years in a supervisory or foreman role prefered. - Strong knowledge of excavation practices, underground utilities, grading, and site development. - Ability to read blueprints, plans, and grade stakes. - Experience operating heavy equipment required. - Valid driver's license required. - Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. - Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. - Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physical job-site duties when necessary.
