Teacher Aide 2pm- 6pm

Job Summary The Child Care Assistant assists the classroom teachers in all aspects of the program helping create a total learning environment for the individual needs of each child. The assistant is also responsible for classroom, center and equipment cleanliness in order to meet nurturing and physical care responsibilities of the children. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED (Required) Non Degree Program in high school coursework in the Early Childhood Education Career Pathway (Preferred) Work Experience 1 - 2 years Assisting or teaching children (Required) Licenses and Certifications Required Certifications/Licensures: Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) obtained with 1 year of hire Satisfactory Criminal Records Check determination (Cogent) Essential Functions PROVIDES ASSISTANCE IN THE DAY TO DAY OPERATIONS OF THE CENTER: Provides direct assistance to teachers and staff as needed. Supports the teaching staff, center philosophy, program and the curriculum, assisting with all child care and educational activities. Uses appropriate teaching techniques at all times. Gives children guidance for the proper care and use of supplies, learning materials, and equipment. Understands and knows child's family. Helps with general housekeeping tasks.

ENSURES A SAFE AND CLEAN ENVIRONMENT:

Ensures safety and security of students while providing a clean environment. Ensures safety of all children in assistant's care. Maintains a clean child center environment both inside the center and outside. Encourages and instructs children in personal hygiene and group health practices. Report any suspect child abuse to supervisor. Additional Duties Adheres to the hospital and departmental attendance and punctuality guidelines. Performs all job responsibilities in alignment with the core values, mission and vision of the organization. Performs other duties as required and completes all job functions as per departmental policies and procedures. Maintains current knowledge in present areas of responsibility (i.e., self education, attends ongoing educational programs). Attends staff meetings and completes mandatory in-services and requirements and competency evaluations on time. Demonstrates competency at all levels in providing care to all patients based on age, sex, weight, and demonstrated needs. For non-clinical areas, has attended training and demonstrates usage of age- specific customer service skills. Wears protective clothing and equipment as appropriate.
