Accounting Data Analyst

Target Pay Rate: 89.00-90.00/hr
Schedule: 8 hours per day / 40 hours per week
Work Arrangement: Hybrid - 1 work-from-home day per week
Contract Duration: 3-6 months

Position Summary:
The primary role of this Accounting Data Analyst (Contractor) is to support the data-based analysis used by the Accounting Team. This position requires interaction with all team members to understand and support company objectives. This position will also assist with the preparation of daily schedules and reconciliations supporting the daily financial controls and regulatory reporting, month-end financial preparation, assistance with periodic audits, and collaborate with other departments on ad hoc projects. This is a contract based role, based in Chicago, IL, reporting directly to the Controller to maximize development, learning and departmental efficiency.


Job Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with team members to improve current report generation processes
• Develop new analytic initiatives to support department objectives
• Identify, source, enhance and manage financial data
• Prepare daily spreadsheets supporting customer asset segregation reports and analysis
• Prepare daily and monthly account reconciliation
• Assist in preparing daily, monthly, and annual regulatory requirements
• Assist with preparing and gathering data during audits
• Prepare revenue and expense analysis and expense accrual

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or technology-related field
• Strong core data literacy, including the ability to interpret charts, tables, and KPIs and to question data quality and assumptions
• Proficiency in data analysis and data visualization techniques (e.g., Excel, Power BI, or similar tools)
• Strong organizational skills and a high level of attention to detail
• Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to translate data findings into practical recommendations

Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain analytical results to non-technical stakeholders
Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Excel (formulas, pivot tables, and dashboards)
1-3 years accounting/data analysis experience


Preferred Qualifications:

• Advanced database and analytics skills, including SQL, and/or Databricks, and experience with BI/reporting tools (e.g., Power BI)

Experience working with large or complex financial datasets, including data cleansing, reconciliation, and validation
Proficiency in MS Dynamics 365, experience in using queries, Essbase, Hyperion, Oracle, GMI or similar systems.
Experience in futures or the financial services industry.
Demonstrated ability to take ownership of analytical projects, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a
fast-paced environment.
