Project Accountant 1

Position: Project Accounting Assistant I Desired Start Date: May 25, 2026 Hourly Rate: $30.00/hour Work Location: American River Drive, Sacramento, California Job Description We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Project Accounting Assistant I to support the accounting and billing functions for ongoing projects. This entry-level accounting position is ideal for someone with strong administrative and financial coordination skills who enjoys working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. The Project Accounting Assistant will assist with project billing, invoice preparation, data entry, financial tracking, and maintaining accurate project accounting records. Key Responsibilities Prepare, review, and process client invoices and project billing documentation Assist with tracking project costs, budgets, and financial reporting Enter and maintain accounting data in company financial systems Support project managers with billing status updates and account reconciliations Verify billing accuracy and ensure compliance with company policies and contract requirements Organize and maintain project accounting files, records, and supporting documentation Assist with accounts receivable follow-up and payment tracking Communicate with internal departments and clients regarding billing inquiries and invoice discrepancies Perform general administrative and accounting support duties as assigned Qualifications Basic understanding of accounting principles and billing procedures Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines Excellent written and verbal communication skills Prior administrative, bookkeeping, or accounting support experience preferred Work Environment This position is based in the office on American River Drive in Sacramento and requires regular collaboration with accounting staff, project managers, and administrative teams. Candidates should be dependable, professional, and capable of working efficiently in a deadline-driven environment.
