General Counsel

Our client is a publicly traded energy company focused on generating renewable energy and is ready to hire its first in house attorney. The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of M&A and commercial contracting experience with a substantial background in energy, infrastructure, project development, and/or project finance, and joint ventures, ideally in the renewables space. This is a drafting position, rather than a management role. Candidates should have experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements, supporting project documents, purchase and sale agreements, and negotiating, drafting, and implementing EPC contracts. and be ready to handle the negotiation and drafting of documents.
This is an in-office position in downtown Houston, a heavy drafting role, working with the companys principals and a growing staff in a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment. This is an exciting ground-floor opportunity, and the compensation will include a competitive base salary, bonus potential, and an equity component. The GC will be a valued member of the management team, ensuring this hire is focused on meeting business objectives. The company will consider a seasoned BIGLAW lawyer, or someone with relevant in-house experience.
Its a GC title at a start-up, so there is upside but it is a roll up your sleeves position.
