Accounts Payable Manager

Our client, an investment banking firm, is seeking an AP Manager to provide temporary coverage of the firm’s accounts payable and supplier operations function for approximately 13 weeks. This role reports to the Head of Finance Operations & Transformation and follows a hybrid schedule of 4 days in office. Responsibilities Oversee the offshore AP processing team and onshore L1 finance analysts, ensuring invoices move through each workflow promptly and nothing ages beyond one week at any single stage. Coordinate work allocation across onshore and offshore/outsourced staff, providing daily direction, unblocking issues, and maintaining coverage. Invoice approval & throughput Serve as the L2 level approver for supplier invoices in Workday across North America; review and clear items on a timely basis. Monitor aging and drive down past‑due invoices, keeping payables within standard net‑30 terms. Identify and resolve duplicate and misplaced invoices (missing or mis‑keyed company/supplier), enforcing clean, complete coding at intake. Maintain a controls‑oriented, audit‑ready process consistent with the firm’s AP control framework. Track invoices pending with cost‑center owners and COO‑level approvers, following up on items outstanding and escalating as needed to keep payments on schedule. Review and approve supplier onboarding and bank‑detail changes promptly so that vendor set‑up does not delay payment; maintain the approval cadence and log follow‑ups. Oversee the shared AP mailbox, triage and categorize incoming items, ensure timely responses, and ensure delegation to offshore teams for coding/processing. Required qualifications 5‑7 years of accounts payable / finance operations experience, ideally in financial or professional services; prior supervisory or team‑lead experience. Hands‑on Workday proficiency across supplier invoices and AP workflow (EIB / bulk‑load experience a plus). Experience managing or coordinating offshore or outsourced processing teams. Working knowledge of month‑end close, accruals, and journal entries. Strong Excel skills; a controls and process mindset, with attention to accurate coding and audit readiness.
