Activity Manager/Assistant Activity Manager - Teen Centers

Job Overview Do you like working with youth? The City of San Ramon is looking for fun and energetic staff to work at the Middle School Teen Centers. Teen Center staff help plan fun weekly activities for the middle schoolers and assist with homework. The hours of the Teen Center are typically Monday – Friday from 2pm‑6:15pm. Hours of operation can change based on county health guidelines and the SRVUSD bell schedule. We provide a flexible schedule. Teen staff may also have the opportunity to work special City events, weekends, holidays, and shifts at other facilities. What does a Teen Center staff do? Supervise and engage with program participants Facilitate and implement recreation activities Maintain a safe program environment and facility Administer first aid as required Respond to questions by the public concerning program and department activities Understand and implement Parks & Community Services Department Policies and Procedures Open, close and secure program sites Plan and organize program elements Attend mandatory meetings and trainings Have fun with the participants Positions: Assistant Activity Manager and Activity Manager Appointments to Assistant Activity Manager or Activity Manager will be determined by level of experience. Pay Ranges Assistant Activity Manager: $19.35 – $23.22 Activity Manager: $21.50 – $25.80 Typical Duties Attend mandatory trainings and meetings Respond to questions by the public concerning programs and Department activities Supervise and engage with program participants Facilitate and implement recreation activities according to a prepared curriculum Maintain a safe program environment and facility Administer first aid as required and handle emergency or extraordinary situations by notifying the proper authority or responder Understand and implement departmental policies and procedures Keep records and prepare reports Provide program feedback to supervisory or management staff Open, close and secure program site Plan and organize program elements Supervise volunteers in program area Work in a lead position over entry‑level staff and volunteers Assist with staff training Provide recommendations for curriculum development and changes Attend mandatory training and meetings with supervisory staff that outline changes or additions to the program policies and procedures Maintain the ability to have direct contact with supervisory staff during all shifts Perform other duties as assigned Knowledge Of Common sports, games and recreation activities appropriate for all ages; youth supervision and leadership techniques; concepts of program risk management and safe work practices; knowledge of Windows‑based computer programs, Microsoft Word and Excel. Ability To Supervise and lead youth of various ages; communicate effectively and possess excellent interpersonal skills while interacting with program participants, co‑workers, supervisors, and the general public; handle and prioritize multiple tasks; provide reliable and dependable assistance to the assigned program areas; provide creativity and enthusiasm to the assigned program areas; work independently with minimal direction from supervisory staff. Education and Experience – Assistant Activity Manager Minimum 17 years old with at least 500 hours of experience working with children in a day camp, child care program, youth program or summer camp, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job. Appropriate clearances from background check/fingerprinting including documentation of a negative skin test for TB within the last two (2) years required by time of hire. Education and Experience – Activity Manager Minimum 18 years old, completion of 12th grade, at least 750 hours of experience working with children in a day camp, child care program, youth program, sport league or summer camp, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job. Appropriate clearances from background check/fingerprinting including documentation of a negative skin test for TB within the last two (2) years required by time of hire.
