Responsibilities of the Staff Accountant

• Prepare and post general ledger entries and support month-end close activities
  
  
• The Staff Accountant will perform account reconciliations and analyze financial data for accuracy and completeness
  
  
• Run and analyze general ledger reports and financial activity
  
  
• Prepare grant and contract billing, including cost reimbursement invoicing
  
  
• Assemble payroll and expense detail for monthly invoices submitted to funding sources
  
  
• The Staff Accountant will review financial information with Program Directors prior to invoice submission
  
  
• Support quarterly spend-down reviews and grant compliance tracking
  
  
• Partner with Program Managers regarding budgeting projections, spending activity, compliance matters, and audit support
  
  
• Assist with audit preparation and supporting documentation
  
  
• The Staff Accountant will provide support to the accounting team and assist with AP oversight as needed
  
  

Qualifications of the Staff Accountant Role

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
  
  
• 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in nonprofit or grant-funded environments
  
  
• Experience with month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting
  
  
• Grant billing or contract invoicing experience strongly preferred
  
  
• Strong understanding of general ledger activity and account analysis
  
  
• Intermediate Excel skills required, including IF formulas, XLOOKUPs, and pivot tables
