Mental Health Therapist

Company Description Ujamaa Place has supported thousands of men since 2010, with a focus on helping African American men secure living-wage employment and long-term stability. The organization offers a five-step “Theory of Transformation” program that addresses personal growth, life skills, and future planning. Participants may also be referred to specialized mental and chemical health services, and individuals experiencing homelessness can access housing through Ujamaa Place or partner facilities. All men are provided with hope, support, education, employment training, health and wellness services, and a sense of brotherhood and family care that many lacked in their early lives. Role Description: Mental Health Therapist is a full-time, on-site role based in St. Paul, MN, providing trauma-informed, culturally responsive mental health services to program participants. This role includes conducting comprehensive assessments, developing and implementing individualized treatment plans, and providing individual and group therapy focused on healing, resilience, and personal transformation. The therapist will collaborate closely with the coaching team to coordinate care, support housing and employment goals, and ensure continuity of services. Daily responsibilities include maintaining accurate clinical documentation, participating in multidisciplinary team meetings, and contributing to program development and evaluation. The therapist will also provide crisis intervention, psychoeducation, and advocacy to help participants access community resources and sustain their progress. Qualifications Demonstrated expertise in Mental Health, including assessment, diagnosis, and evidence-informed interventions for diverse adult populations. Experience in Treatment Planning, with the ability to create and update individualized, goal-oriented care plans that align with program goals. Master’s degree in counseling, Psychology, or a related mental health field; current or eligible licensure (e.g., LICSW, LMFT, LPCC, or equivalent) in the State of Minnesota. Experience working with individuals impacted by systemic inequities, justice involvement, homelessness, or substance use is strongly preferred. Strong interpersonal, communication, and de-escalation skills, with the ability to build trust and maintain professional boundaries. Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team and maintain accurate, timely clinical records in accordance with ethical and regulatory standards.
