Human Resources Analyst - Pension

Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County

Position Description The Human Resources Analyst – Pension position is in the Human Resources Department. The role performs benefits and pension calculations for active Metro employees and works in conjunction with other benefits areas to answer inquiries based on established policy, procedure, and practice. Typical Duties Understand Metro’s benefit system and the requirements to participate. Calculate disability, service, and early service pensions. Handle connection of service and terminated vested calculations. Enter data into the Oracle system. Handle intake calls from individuals applying for pension. Assist with pension enrollment and training meetings. Assist in handling death benefit claims—both pension and life insurance. Apply connection of service for breaks in Metro employment history. Answer plan‑related questions via telephone, email, or written correspondence from employees, retirees, and department representatives. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of education: experience in finance, human resources, or pension‑related fields (ratio 1:1). Candidates with accreditations earned in a foreign institute are encouraged to apply. Per Metro Ordinance No. SO94‑1078, all employees of the Metropolitan Government must be residents of the State of Tennessee or become residents within six (6) months of employment. Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field. Experience calculating pensions. Experience with an Oracle system.
