JOB SUMMARY \n
\n
\nThe Certified Clinical Athletic Trainer supports the Orthopedic Sports Medicine program by working under the direct supervision of the of the physician in the area of clinical operation, patient care, and education. \n
\n
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES \n
\n
\n- Other duties may be assigned. \n
\n
\n Perform clinical skills and delegated tasks within the scope of practice of a certified athletic trainer. \n
\n
\n Performs accuracy in medication preparation as directed by physician. \n
\n
\n Assists with incoming patient calls and transcribes patient messages to discuss with the physician. \n
\n
\n Assist with chart preparation and obtain study reports and progress notes for physician review. \n
\n
\n Maintains clinic supplies. \n
\n
\n Maintains a clean and orderly clinical area. \n
\n
\n Escorts patients to the exam room. \n
\n
\n Conducts patient intake for a variety of medical and musculoskeletal conditions including entering information into the EMR. \n
\n
\n Conducts initial assessment of the patient with orthopedic pathology. \n
\n
\n Presents the patient case to the physician or physician assistant. \n
\n
\n Performs clinical responsibilities under the supervision of the physician which may include, taking vitals, phlebotomy, application and removal of casts and splints, wound care, suture removal, fitting DME, gait training, and patient education. \n
\n
\n As directed by the physician, instruct patients on prescribed home exercise program. \n
\n
\n Assist physician within office procedures including patient education, obtaining patient consent, preparation of materials and supplies, and assisting physician with patient positioning. \n
\n
\n Provides occasional sports medicine event coverage as needed. \n
\n
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS \n
\n
\n Bachelor's Degree in related field required; Master's Degree preferred. \n
\n
\n Licensed as a Certified Athletic Trainer in the State of Florida. \n
\n
\n Certification as an Athletic Trainer by the National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification (NATABOC) required \n
\n
\n Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association. \n
\n
\n One year of Orthopedic Clinical work experience preferred. \n
\n
\n Current, valid Florida Driver's license that passes the Motor Vehicle Department background check required. \n
\n
\n Clearance of a Level II Background Check from the Collier County Public Schools. \n
\n
\n Ability to obtain American Society of Orthopedic Professionals Registered Orthopedic Technologist certification within 6 months of hire.\n
\n
\n Basic computer knowledge: ability to operate a PC, create/save/print documents, input data.
