We are seeking a Billing Office Support Specialist to join our Billing Office team! As a participating hospital of Ernest Health, we offer robust recognition, wellness, and retention programs. - Two-year business degree preferred or 5 years' experience in hospital billing support functions
- Experience and knowledge of Medicare Bad Debt regulations, credit balance processing and self-pay management
- Three (3) years healthcare experience preferred.
- OR any equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrates general computer skills including: data entry, word processing, email, and record management.
- Effective organizational and time management skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to maintain quality and safety standards.
- Ability to independently drive and facilitate special projects with limited supervision.
- Ability to maintain proper levels of confidentiality.
- Ability to work closely and professionally with others.
Responsibilities Using discretion and independent judgment, the Business Office Support Specialist is responsible for the monthly review of all outstanding AR accounts, reviewing underpaid account status with Business Office leaders, and escalating payer-related issues to ensure timely resolution on all accounts. This person should have extensive knowledge of payer behavior, track payer payments, understand payer contracts, and be able to adjust course as needed to ensure billing office and managed care goals are met. This person works in a fast-paced, high-stress environment, where time management is essential to ensure the primary cash goals for each month are met.
