Controller

The Controller is responsible for the day-to-day accounting, financial reporting, and cash management for a portfolio of commercial real estate, development, operating, investment, and holding companies. This hands-on role oversees monthly close, financial statement preparation, payroll, multi-entity accounting, and accounting staff while partnering closely with the CFO. Key Responsibilities Manage full-cycle accounting, including journal entries, accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, depreciation, and monthly close. Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for multiple entities. Maintain multi-entity accounting and reconcile intercompany transactions and related-party balances. Perform and review bank, debt, escrow, reserve, and balance sheet reconciliations. Oversee commercial real estate accounting, including tenant activity, lease transactions, CAM reconciliations, property taxes, insurance, and capital expenditures. Manage accounting for operating companies, including AP, AR, revenue, fixed assets, and operating expenses. Oversee payroll processing, payroll taxes, benefits deductions, and related accounting. Monitor cash balances, debt payments, and liquidity needs; assist with cash forecasting. Support budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, audits, tax preparation, lender reporting, and ownership reporting. Supervise accounting staff and improve accounting processes, internal controls, and systems. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA preferred. 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory responsibilities. Commercial real estate accounting experience required; operating company and multi-entity accounting experience strongly preferred. Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, payroll, reconciliations, and general ledger accounting. Proficiency with QuickBooks and Excel; Yardi Breeze experience preferred. Highly organized, analytical, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Hands-on leader comfortable working in both detailed accounting functions and a Controller-level role. #J-18808-Ljbffr
