Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to support core accounting operations for a large privately owned organization in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for someone who can manage close activities, maintain ledger accuracy, and strengthen financial reporting processes. The role will play a key part in ensuring reconciliations, entries, and account balances are completed accurately and on schedule.
Responsibilities:
• Lead monthly closing activities by preparing schedules, reviewing balances, and helping ensure timely completion of financial reporting tasks.
• Maintain the general ledger by recording, reviewing, and validating financial activity to support accurate accounting records.
• Prepare and post journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation and a strong focus on accuracy and compliance.
• Perform account reconciliations regularly to identify discrepancies, resolve variances, and maintain reliable financial data.
• Complete bank reconciliations by matching transactions, researching outstanding items, and confirming cash accuracy.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather financial information needed for period-end reporting and analysis.
• Review accounting records and supporting documentation to improve consistency, accuracy, and adherence to established procedures.
• At least 5 years of accounting experience, including work in a senior-level accounting capacity.• Demonstrated expertise in month-end close processes and maintaining accurate financial records.
• Strong working knowledge of general ledger activity, journal entry preparation, and balance sheet reconciliation.
• Hands-on experience completing account reconciliations and bank reconciliations with a high level of accuracy.
• Ability to investigate discrepancies, organize supporting documentation, and meet reporting deadlines.
• Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to work independently in a contract assignment environment.
