Student Accessibility and Support Student Assistant The student employee is responsible for providing customer assistance in addition to clerical and other general office support to the Office of Student Accessibility & Support. Position Type - Student Employee Job Category - Student General Description - The student employee is responsible for providing the customer assistance in addition to clerical and other general office support to the Office of Student Accessibility & Support. Reports To - Student Accessibility and Support Assistant Minimum Education/Experience - Current OCCC student enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours for the Fall or Spring semester or enrolled in a minimum of 3 credit hours for the Summer semester. OR Current OCCC student with a Federal Work Study award. Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities - Computer literate. Positive interpersonal skills. Sensitive to confidential information. Comfortable assisting individuals with disabilities and students in crisis. Customer service oriented attitude and behavior. Professional appearance and attitude. Punctual. Ability to follow directions and work independently. Ability to utilize a computer and learn new computer skills when necessary. Physical Demands/Working Conditions - Light work: The person in this position may occasionally exert up to 20 pounds of force to grasp, lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. This position requires the person to frequently communicate with and listen to students, faculty, staff, and others to perform the essential functions of the position. This position requires the person to frequently move about the Office of Student Accessibility & Support and OCCC campus to assist students and perform the essential functions of the position. This position requires the person to occasionally position self to access materials or equipment and/or to assist students. This position requires the person to occasionally ascend/descend a ladder, scaffolding, ramp, etc. to perform the essential functions of the position. This position requires the person to use upper and lower body to exert force up to 20 pounds to grasp materials or equipment. This position requires the person to frequently position self to access materials that may be above head or at ground level. This position frequently requires the person to operate a computer and other equipment to perform the essential functions of the position. This position requires the person to operate equipment that frequently involves repetitive motions of hands and wrists. This position requires the person to perceive attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips. This position requires the person to judge, observe and assess the accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of work assigned or to make general observations. This position performs the essential functions in an indoor, office setting. Preferred Qualifications - Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Outlook, Word and Excel. Good phone skills and etiquette. Customer service work experience. Initiative and willingness to learn. Critical thinking and problem solving skills. Required Training Work Hours - Flexible depending on student class schedule and needs of the department. May be required to work until 6 p.m. Department - Student Accessibility and Support HR Contact - Adrianna Hunter Posting Number - Student, Work Study, Temporary_0402941 Job Duties - Promote a professional, courteous, and supportive lobby environment for students, faculty, and staff. Provide customer service in-person to students, other college staff or faculty and to the public regarding information about the office or the college's services and operations. Provide customer service via the telephone, forward calls and take messages as needed. Check main phoneline voicemail and respond to messages. Provide clerical tasks such as scanning and copying documents, filing and organizing materials, organizing office supplies and clerical tasks as requested. Help to keep break room clean and organized, including weekly fridge cleanouts. Help setup testers and prepare for next individual. Assist students with check-in and filling out intake forms. Prepare text in alternative formats (experience not required). Input data into an electronic database. Assist with set-up and execution of events and class presentations. Make sure brochures and pamphlets stay stocked and proper authority is notified if running low. Make deliveries to other offices or individuals on campus. Complete specialized computer assignments, as needed. Help update Community Resource Guide as needed. Adhere to FERPA guidelines to maintain student record confidentiality. Job Duties - Abide by the policies and procedures published in the Board of Regents Policies and College Policies & Procedures. Contribute to a safe educational & working environment. Adhere to established safety and health procedures and practices for the purpose of providing injury and illness prevention for self and others. Complete quarterly health and safety training pursuant to OCCC's established safety and health procedures and practices. Participate in all applicable OCCC emergency, evacuation and shelter in place drills and be prepared to take action and assist others in taking appropriate action should a health or safety emergency occur.
