divh2Medical Assistant II/h2pApply increased knowledge and experience to support the care team by performing clinical and administrative tasks that are vital to patient care. Medical Assistant IIs must adhere to all relevant regulations and guidelines to ensure patient safety and confidentiality. They are expected to maintain a high level of professionalism and compassion during all interactions./ppMajor Responsibilities:/pulliAdheres to Medical Assistant scope of practice, follows all policies and procedures, and maintains training and competency based on area of specialty when providing patient care./liliPerforms rooming/visit tasks such as vital signs, medication reconciliation, medical history, health maintenance, allergy review, and screenings (depression, suicide, falls, social drivers of health, etc.)./liliAssists provider with or performs procedures as ordered./liliPerforms lab related duties such as venipuncture, specimen collection/labeling/packing, preparation of lab orders/requisitions, and results tracking. Point of Care testing (POCT) per standing order/provider order. Completes Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) approved waived laboratory tests and practice-specific diagnostic testing in adherence to CLIA standards./liliAdministers medications and vaccines safely following the rights of medication administration./liliPerforms other duties as assigned such as medication refills, insurance authorizations, safety/regulatory log completion, patient messaging, medication/supply ordering, appointment scheduling, and referrals./liliDemonstrates effective and timely communication, teamwork, and appropriate escalation./liliMaintains a clean work environment ensuring instruments and equipment are cleaned appropriately. Ensures equipment and supplies are in working order, and areas are appropriately stocked./liliMay assist with training and onboarding of other teammates./liliMay serve as a role champion or on a committee./liliMust be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patients status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patients requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the departments policies and procedures. Age-specific information is developed further in the departmental job standards./li/ulpMinimum Job Requirements/ppEducation/pulliHigh School Diploma or GED required./liliCompletion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or may have completed structured military training which is clinical in nature per DD214 in lieu of a formal medical assistant program or EMT./li/ulpCertification / License/pulliCurrent American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification required./liliRecognized or certified as a CMA or RMA by one of the following National Organizations: American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), National Health Career Association (NHA), National Healthcare Workers Association (NHCWA), National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA) American Medical Technologists (AMT), National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP), National Registry of Medical Assistants (NRMA)./li/ulpExperience/pulliTwo years of experience in a clinical practice setting as a Medical Assistant./li/ulpKnowledge / Skills / Abilities/pulliAbility to perform routine and complex technical skills, within the Medical Assistant scope of practice after demonstrated competency./liliExcellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to develop rapport and maintain positive, professional relationships with a variety of patients, team members and physicians./liliProficient computer skills including keyboarding, navigation within a windows operating system, and use of electronic mail with exposure to electronic medical records systems./liliDemonstrates customer service skills that support a positive patient experience./li/ulpPhysical Requirements and Working Conditions/pulliMust sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, crawl, kneel, climb, and reach above shoulders throughout the workday./liliAbility to lift 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other team member, when available./liliUnique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case- by -case basis./liliMust have functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch with ability to use fine-hand manipulation skills./liliWill be exposed to the following hazards on a frequent basis: mechanical, electrical, chemical, blood and body fluids.
