RCF Direct Support Professional I/Cook

Job Type Full‑time Description This role operates in a Residential Care Facility (RCF) setting, which provides services for people with mental illness and other disabilities. The RCF Direct Support Professionals I/Cook are the heartbeat of the organization, empowering people to reach individual achievement across the spectrum of life. As an integral part of the overall care team, you will collaborate with other Direct Support Professionals, Programmers, Supervisors, individuals served, and their families to ensure the best possible care for those you serve. You will fulfill an individual’s behavioral care plan by creatively strategizing the best way for each individual to reach and exceed their goals. Responsibilities Collaborate with the RCF Supervisor and RCF Programmer to develop goals for the individual served. Provide services to individuals based on their unique goals and behavioral care plan, including: Teaching individuals how to accomplish their goal rather than completing a task for them. Using behavioral strategies that support individuals and address any behaviors that do not lead to their success. Motivating and encouraging individuals to participate in their behavioral care plans and reach their goals. Participating in recreational, community, and social activities with those you serve, honoring the choices of the individual. Displaying an understanding of when it is appropriate to apply rights‑restrictions, only as determined by the interdisciplinary team and when indicated in the individual’s behavioral care plan. Plan, prepare, and cook food items to ensure the highest quality and experience for the individuals, including: Preparing food per posted menus and according to special diets and standards. Effectively estimating food quantities needed to meet menu requirements. Ensuring safety is being met, reporting any hazardous situations immediately. Ensuring proper food storage and handling procedures are followed. Providing education to individuals on healthy eating, menu planning, shopping, and preparing meals. Completing all required documentation on Dietary Admission and Quarterly Dietary Progress on all individuals. Maintaining inventory of food and ordering supplies as needed. Providing complete, consistent, and accurate documentation of the individual’s progress. Providing safe environments and instruction to individuals served regarding the practices that will help them reach their goals. Providing care to individuals that help them present their best selves to the community, including hygiene, clothing, medication administration, and dietary needs. Being an advocate for individuals receiving services to have as much control over their own lives as possible. Benefits & Compensation Competitive wages: base pay $17/hour (increased with education and experience). Schedule: Monday through Friday, 10 am–6 pm. Training: Comprehensive entry‑level training. High school diploma or GED. SAFE SERVE certification or ability to obtain. Work authorization in the U.S. without sponsorship. Physical Demands Remain awake during working hours. Assist in transfer of individuals to/from wheelchair, chair, bed, toilet, vehicle, etc. Lift up to 35 pounds; additional support required for heavier loads. Participate in activities of consumer’s choice (e.g., church services, swimming, bowling). Prolonged walking and standing up to eight hours. Frequent bending, stooping, and stretching. Driving up to eight hours. Experience various climatic conditions. Work with difficult emotional and physical behaviors. Visual, auditory, and communicative abilities as described.
