Grounds Description ASSISTANT GARDENER JOB SUMMARY Assistant Gardeners maintain the beauty and presentation of the White Bear Yacht Club's gardens, landscaped areas, flower beds, and outdoor amenities. This role supports the grounds team by performing routine gardening and landscape maintenance to ensure an attractive and welcoming environment for members and guests. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Plant, water, weed, and maintain flower beds, shrubs, trees, and ornamental plants
- Assist with seasonal planting and landscape displays
- Prune and trim hedges, bushes, and decorative plants
- Mulch garden beds and maintain healthy soil conditions
- Operate basic landscaping equipment such as mowers, trimmers, blowers, and hedge cutters
- Remove leaves, debris, and litter from club grounds
- Monitor plant health and report pests, diseases, or irrigation issues
- Assist with irrigation and watering systems
- Support setup and cleanup for outdoor club events when needed
- Maintain clean and organized work areas and equipment
- Follow all safety procedures and club standards
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Previous gardening, landscaping, or groundskeeping experience preferred
- Basic knowledge of plant care and landscaping practices preferred
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical labor
- Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining high-quality grounds
- Dependable, punctual, and team-oriented
- Flexible schedule, including weekends or holidays as needed
- Non-Exempt, Full-time or Part-time, Seasonal Position
- Pay range is $15.00-$19.00/hour depending on experience
- Uniforms provided
