Payroll Specialist

The Workday Payroll Operations Specialist supports end-to-end payroll processing within Workday, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll operations. This role requires hands-on Workday Payroll expertise, strong analytical skills, and the ability to troubleshoot complex payroll issues while partnering with HR, Finance, and other business teams. Key Responsibilities Support full-cycle payroll processing, including on-cycle and off-cycle payrolls. Validate payroll data, perform audits, reconciliations, and variance analysis. Configure and maintain Workday Payroll components, including earnings, deductions, taxes, business processes, and security. Develop and maintain Workday reports using Report Writer and Calculated Fields. Troubleshoot payroll calculations, integrations, and data discrepancies. Execute system testing, regression testing, and payroll validation for configuration changes. Track and resolve payroll issues using Jira or similar tools. Partner with HR, Benefits, Compensation, and Finance to ensure accurate payroll processing and resolve employee payroll issues. Support Time Tracking and Absence Management integrations. Required Qualifications 4–10 years of payroll experience with hands-on Workday Payroll expertise. Experience supporting end-to-end payroll processing, payroll audits, reconciliations, and compliance. Strong knowledge of Workday Payroll configuration, Report Writer, Calculated Fields, Time Tracking, and Absence Management. Experience troubleshooting payroll calculations, integrations, retro pay, payroll variances, and inbound/outbound data files. Knowledge of payroll tax regulations, compliance, testing, and production support. Advanced Excel and data analysis skills. Strong communication, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills. Preferred Qualifications Workday Payroll Certification and/or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP). Experience with payroll accounting, general ledger interfaces, EIBs, SOX controls, and release management. Experience supporting payroll in a large enterprise or shared services environment.
