Salary: $75,000–$95,000 annually

About the Opportunity

Cleared2Hire is seeking an IT Support Specialist II to support a secure Department of Defense environment at Fort Meade, Maryland.

This hands-on position focuses on providing Tier I and Tier II technical support to government and contractor personnel. You'll troubleshoot hardware, software, account access, and connectivity issues while helping maintain reliable daily IT operations.

This opportunity is ideal for a cleared IT professional who enjoys solving technical problems, supporting users, and developing skills for future roles in systems administration, networking, or cybersecurity.

What You'll Do

• Provide Tier I and Tier II technical support to end users.
• Troubleshoot Windows computers, monitors, printers, and other peripherals.
• Resolve software, network connectivity, account access, and authentication issues.
• Manage incidents and service requests through an IT ticketing system.
• Support Active Directory user accounts, password resets, and access permissions.
• Install, configure, and deploy approved hardware and software.
• Set up workstations for new employees and assist with equipment returns.
• Troubleshoot Microsoft 365 applications, including Outlook and Teams.
• Assist with VPN, multifactor authentication, and remote-access issues.
• Escalate complex network, server, and security issues to the appropriate teams.
• Maintain accurate ticket notes and technical documentation.
• Follow established DoD security and equipment-handling procedures.

Required Qualifications

• Active, fully adjudicated and verifiable Secret security clearance.
• U.S. citizenship.
• At least 2 years of help-desk, desktop-support, service-desk, or related technical-support experience.
• Hands-on experience troubleshooting Windows computers.
• Familiarity with Active Directory account and password administration.
• Experience supporting Microsoft Office or Microsoft 365.
• Experience using an IT ticketing platform.
• CompTIA Security+ certification or ability to obtain it within 60 days of starting.
• Strong customer-service and communication skills.
• Ability to work on-site at Fort Meade five days per week.

Preferred Qualifications

• Current CompTIA Security+ certification.
• Experience supporting DoD or federal customers.
• Familiarity with ServiceNow, Remedy, or Jira Service Management.
• Experience with Windows workstation imaging and deployment.
• Knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, and user permissions.
• Experience with VPNs, CACs, smart cards, and multifactor authentication.
• Basic networking knowledge, including TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP.
• Experience troubleshooting printers and mobile devices.

Additional Skills That Are a Plus

• CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft certifications.
• Experience in classified environments.
• Familiarity with SCCM, Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager, or Intune.
• Basic PowerShell scripting.
• Asset and inventory management experience.
