K-2 Teaching Assistant (TA) – SY 2026/2027 The Katherine Thomas School Program in Rockville, MD serves students in grades K-8 who have language and learning challenges, autism, intellectual disabilities, and/or other health impairments. We are seeking a full‑time Special Education Teaching Assistant (TA) for the 2026/2027 school year. Working hours are 8:30 am to 4:15 pm, Monday through Friday. EOE. Hourly rate: $19 – $24 per hour, DOE. Location: Rockville, MD. Job type: Full‑time/Regular. Years of experience: up to 2 years. Education: BA/BS required. Responsibilities Assist teachers in implementing content‑area curricula. Guide and assist students in following the teacher’s instruction and school/program rules. Provide necessary accommodations to meet individual, group, and program needs. Create a supportive learning environment. Support children in daily movement‑based activities including sensory breaks, PE, and recess by modeling and guiding actions. Implement Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS). Document student progress through written notes and narrative reports. Provide hygiene support as needed. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required. Experience working with students with learning disabilities, autism, intellectual disabilities, and/or other health impairments preferred. Experience working with young children (ages 3‑8). Knowledge of education and behavior‑management methods, procedures, and techniques helpful. Reliable, professional, and team‑oriented.
