HR Manager

Role Description The HR Manager at Sage Writing, Editing, & Design is a part-time, remote role responsible for overseeing core human resources functions for a distributed creative team. Day-to-day work includes managing the full employee lifecycle, from recruitment and onboarding through performance management and offboarding. The HR Manager will maintain HR policies and procedures, manage documentation, and ensure compliance with applicable employment laws and regulations. This role will support managers with workforce planning, handle employee relations issues with discretion, and facilitate training and development initiatives. The HR Manager will also help foster an inclusive, engaging culture by supporting communication, feedback processes, and recognition programs in a remote environment.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in HR management, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and employee relations.
• Strong knowledge of HR policies, employment law basics, and compliance best practices for remote and distributed teams.
• Excellent communication, conflict resolution, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust across diverse team members.
• Ability to work independently in a remote setting, manage multiple priorities, and maintain accurate, confidential HR records.
• Familiarity with HRIS or HR software, collaboration tools (e.g., email, messaging, video conferencing), and standard office applications.
• Experience supporting creative, professional services, or small business environments is beneficial.
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
