The Food Services and Nutrition Coordinator acts as the primary liaison between the school district and the contracted Food Services Management Company ensuring representation of the district in all aspects of the program. The role supervises the program to ensure effective delivery of the core nutrition services processes and compliance with state, federal and local policies, guidelines and practices. This role executes practices that provide support to the school district in monitoring, evaluating, partnering with the FSMC to improve the standards of their service to meet governmental regulations. The focus includes specifically ensuring compliance with nutrition standards, sanitation regulations, and handling of financial responsibilities including reimbursement claims.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Nutrition Services required. Chief School Business Official (CSBO) preferred.
• Experience: Minimum of 13 years of experience with the school nutrition program Experience working with student data systems, financial records, and the Illinois state reporting systems preferred Familiarity with school nutrition programs (e.g., NSLP/SBP) required
• Knowledge & Skills: Strong attention to detail with the ability to accurately compile and report data (e.g., monthly meal counts, claims) Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook), with an emphasis on spreadsheets and data tracking Ability to maintain organized records and documentation in compliance with state and federal requirements Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines consistently Effective written and verbal communication skills Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
• Other Requirements: Ability to work collaboratively with other and under the direction of the Chief School Business Official (CSBO) Willingness to learn state reporting systems and compliance requirements related to food service programs Dependable, detail-oriented, and able to work independently with minimal supervision

Key Functions:

• Administration of the School Food Authority role defined by ISBE includes responsibility for the management of the NSLP and SBP, ensuring meals meet federal nutrient guidelines, such as those provided by USDA Team Nutrition.
• Financial Management: Balance meal costs (labor, food, services) with revenues, including federal reimbursements, student payments, and state funds.
• Eligibility Determination: They oversee the application process for free or reduced price for students based on household income.
• Compliance & Safety: FSA must obtain two food sanitation inspections from local health department per site annually.
• Procurement: They are responsible for governing the district's PAL funds and commodity choices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee, manage and direct the implementation through the food service management company.
• Oversee, manage and direct all additional state run grant programs, including fresh fruit and vegetable grant programs, food pantry and any related programs with the Illinois Food Bank.
• Prepare the annual food service department budget for presentation to the Superintendent.
• Review revenues and expenditures monthly to operate within the budget.
• Plan menus for all food service programs that meet current nutritional requirements and are appealing to students.
• Oversee preparation of all necessary claims, reports, and forms required by state and federal food service agencies.
• Follow mandated procurement guidelines when purchasing food and supply items to operate the food service program.
• Assure the continued availability of all items by proper scheduling of deliveries and quantities.
• Prepare and submit to ISBE all annual applications for participation in the National School Lunch and Breakfast Program (NSLB) and the Annual Summer Seamless Program (SSP), FFVP and all Child Adult Care Food Programs (CAFCP) which include Afterschool Snacks, and Supper Program.
• Prepare and provide the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) application and submit final report to ISBE.
• Ensure food safety and quality is administered from all kitchen areas within the district.
• Monitor staff schedules according to each school building needs and programs to ensure correct coverage of adult to student ratio.
• Oversee Health Department policies and regulations regarding kitchen area standards.
• Establish and maintain a complete, accurate, up-to-date inventory of food and supplies.
• Work directly with personnel in maintaining an orderly storage and delivery system for food, supplies, and equipment.
• Plan and implement a program of regular maintenance and replacement of equipment.
• Completing grants applications for Food Service needs of equipment, extra funding, and programs.

Salary/Benefits: $75,000 - $85,000. The District offers fringe benefits, including life, medical, dental and vision insurance.
