Job Summary

Join the dedicated team at Bassett Medical Center in New York, US, as an Operating Room Registered Nurse. This role offers an exciting opportunity to provide high-quality patient care within a dynamic surgical environment, supporting 12 state-of-the-art OR suites.

The successful candidate will be integral to a team managing an average daily case volume of 25-30 cases. While primarily focusing on General Surgery and Orthopedics, this position offers exposure to a comprehensive range of additional service lines, ensuring a diverse and challenging clinical experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert nursing care to patients throughout the perioperative phase in the Operating Room.
• Circulate and/or scrub for a wide variety of surgical procedures, including General Surgery, Orthopedics, Plastics, Neuro, Vascular, ENT, GYN, Urology, GI, Pain Management, Cardiac, Thoracic, Vascular hybrid cases, and Podiatry.
• Maintain a strong foundational OR skill set to safely and effectively support diverse case types and patient populations.
• Actively participate in the on-call rotation, demonstrating flexibility and readiness to manage varied cases that may present.
• Operate and manage a broad range of OR equipment and devices across multiple surgical specialties.
• Collaborate effectively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, surgical technologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Adhere strictly to all hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
• Will not be expected to assist in other departments unless prior experience in those areas is documented.

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) licensure.
• Demonstrated experience as an Operating Room Registered Nurse.
• Ability to support multiple surgical service lines.
• Comfortable working with a broad range of OR equipment and devices.
• Exceptional flexibility and adaptability to manage a wide variety of cases, particularly during on-call shifts.

• Clinical Skills: Aseptic technique, surgical patient assessment, intraoperative patient monitoring, instrument recognition, surgical scrub, circulating, comprehensive documentation, emergency response in the OR.
• Equipment & Technology: Proficiency with general surgical instrumentation, orthopedic surgical equipment, neurosurgical equipment, vascular surgical equipment, cardiac surgical equipment, laparoscopic equipment, robotic surgical systems (if applicable), and various OR-specific devices.
