This position will have responsibility for project financial performance, scheduling, procurement, coordination, client relationships, and successful field execution.The ideal candidate is an experienced construction professional with a strong understanding of HVAC, plumbing, piping, and MEP systems who can effectively lead project teams, manage complex construction challenges, and deliver successful projects safely, on schedule, and within budget.What You'll DoLead Projects from Start to FinishManage commercial mechanical construction projects from preconstruction and planning through final turnover and closeoutDevelop project execution strategies, schedules, budgets, procurement plans, and key milestonesCoordinate activities across Project Management, field operations, VDC, Engineering, Procurement, and other internal teamsMaintain ownership of project performance and ensure contractual requirements and milestones are achievedIdentify potential challenges early and develop proactive solutions to keep projects moving forwardManage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced construction environmentManage Project Financial PerformanceDevelop and maintain project budgets, forecasts, cost projections, and financial reportingMonitor labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, and other project costsEvaluate project performance and identify financial risks and opportunitiesManage change orders, pricing, documentation, and contract modificationsSupport procurement planning and major equipment and material purchasing decisionsIdentify value-engineering and cost-saving opportunitiesMaintain accountability for the overall financial performance and profitability of assigned projectsCoordinate Mechanical & MEP ConstructionLead coordination efforts for HVAC, plumbing, piping, and related MEP systemsReview drawings, specifications, contracts, RFIs, submittals, coordination drawings, and other construction documentsParticipate in design reviews, constructability reviews, and BIM/VDC coordinationWork closely with Superintendents and Foremen to develop sequencing, manpower plans, and field execution strategiesCoordinate with General Contractors and other trades to resolve conflicts and maintain project schedulesEnsure field teams have the information, materials, equipment, and resources necessary for successful executionBuild Strong Client & Partner RelationshipsServe as a primary point of contact for owners, General Contractors, architects, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and other project partnersLead and participate in project meetings, progress reviews, and client discussionsCommunicate project status, schedules, financial considerations, and potential challenges clearly and proactivelyBuild long-term relationships through responsiveness, accountability, and consistent project executionManage subcontractor and vendor relationships throughout the project lifecycleRepresent VMG professionally with customers and industry partnersDrive Schedule, Quality & SafetyDevelop and maintain project schedules in coordination with field leadership and project partnersMonitor project milestones, procurement requirements, equipment deliveries, and construction progressPartner with Superintendents and Foremen to maintain field productivity and resolve construction challengesSupport VMG's safety expectations and ensure project teams comply with applicable safety requirementsMaintain quality standards and ensure installations comply with drawings, specifications, codes, and contractual requirementsProactively identify and manage project risks throughout constructionManage Project CloseoutCoordinate equipment startup, testing, commissioning, and system turnoverManage punch-list activities and outstanding project requirementsEnsure closeout documentation, as-built drawings, O&M manuals, warranties, and other deliverables are completedCoordinate final project acceptance with clients and project partnersSupport warranty transition and resolution of post-construction itemsConduct project reviews and capture lessons learned to strengthen future project performanceWhat You Bring5+ years of Project Management experience in commercial construction, mechanical contracting, MEP contracting, or with a General ContractorStrong understanding of commercial HVAC, plumbing, piping, and MEP systemsDemonstrated experience managing commercial construction projects from preconstruction through closeoutStrong knowledge of project budgeting, forecasting, scheduling, procurement, and contract administrationExperience managing RFIs, submittals, change orders, project documentation, and cost controlsAbility to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and technical documentationProven ability to coordinate field teams, subcontractors, vendors, and multiple tradesStrong financial acumen and understanding of project profitabilityExcellent leadership, communication, negotiation, organization, and problem-solving skillsAbility to manage multiple projects and competing prioritiesExperience with Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, or similar construction management platformsAbility to travel to project locations as requiredPreferred ExperienceExperience managing commercial construction projects ranging from $2M to $50M+Previous Project Management experience with a commercial mechanical contractorExperience managing large and complex HVAC, plumbing, piping, or MEP scopesExperience with negotiated, design-build, and design-assist projectsFamiliarity with BIM/VDC coordination and constructability review processesExperience managing projects involving multiple trades and complex construction schedulesExperience with commissioning, project turnover, and closeoutBachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent industry
